?? Creative Spotlight: The TikTok Playbook Of An Independent 7-Figure Brand?
Matt Cook, founder of Mozi Wash, is challenging billion-dollar laundry giants in a unique way. Self-funded and created with just $20,000, Mozi Wash has managed to rake in millions of views and 3.6M likes on TikTok, all while projecting $1.5 million in sales this year.?
And Matt has an additional challenge: Mozi Wash is a premium product, priced at $35 a can—significantly more than typical laundry detergent.?
Here’s how they’re making it work and how any brand can adopt these tactics:
??? Hero journey: Matt doesn’t shy away from sharing his story, motivations, and challenges on social media. He’s open about what he thinks is wrong with mass-market detergents and why he created Mozi Wash. He even gives a peek into how orders are packed and shipped. This transparency helps build strong connections with people who value authenticity, even if it sometimes invites criticism.
?? Tackling objections: Mozi knows $35 is more than people expect to pay for detergent. Matt addresses concerns directly, showing Mozi’s effectiveness in tackling tough stains, and he films people’s live reactions to the product’s unique scent. This upfront approach builds credibility and makes the product feel accessible and trustworthy.
?? Product is always the star: Every Mozi video includes the product in some form. Mixing lighter content, such as “laundry myths” and “laundry hacks,” with more direct product demonstrations builds awareness and familiarity across the content funnel. And with Mozi’s unique packaging, every video becomes a mini ad for the brand, boosting recognition with each post.
?? Takeaway: Mozi proves that even small brands can compete with megacorps by staying genuine, addressing audience concerns, and showing up consistently. Authentic storytelling, behind-the-scenes content, and visible products in every piece of content make Mozi’s TikTok strategy one that brands of any size can learn from.
That's it for today, catch you next week!
Peace,
David Bustos Fernández from Metricool ??
