Launching... Soar, Don't Settle

Launching... Soar, Don't Settle

I'm thrilled to have you on board as I spill the beans on the valuable lessons I've gathered from the realms of business, leadership, and the school of life. But hold on tight, because this is not just a one-way street – I'm counting on learning a thing or two from each of you as well!

Throughout my diverse career, I've had the incredible opportunity to collaborate with business leaders, students, and fantastic team members. The diversity of experiences has shaped my outlook on life, and I've always approached every interaction with an eagerness to keep on learning. Believe it or not, every single day, there's something new for me to discover.

As I reflect on this journey, I've come to realize that many of us grapple with defining and achieving success. It's a universal struggle that often leaves us scratching our heads. Interestingly, I've found that the line between high performers and the average Joe isn't as thick as we might think. Surprisingly, some of the most successful individuals I've encountered don't clock in endless hours like those who find it challenging just to get through the day.

Why is that? What separates those that soar from those that just settle? That's what we're diving into today.

Here's the scoop: I believe it boils down to two things:

1.???? A crystal clear focus on purpose

2.???? A deep understanding of what defines success for them

These high-flyers are crystal clear about their personal definition of success and aren't bound by some external measuring stick imposed by the outside world. Equally important, they've picked up some critical "shortcuts" or "life hacks" – lessons learned that create exponential returns in both their personal and work lives.

It's the intersection of clear purpose and lessons learned that can help you leapfrog past a decade or two of time spent at the "school of hard knocks" that most of us endure.

So, why this blog post now? It's time. I've finally shaken off the misguided belief that I need to learn more before I can share. I'm done listening to that negative voice in my head. (You know, that voice that makes us all think that we look arrogant if we show up online to share our wisdom.)

This shift has been spurred by a process of reflection and re-prioritization, a true natural part of aging. But it's also thanks to others encouraging me to share my life lessons as a way of paying it forward.

Recently, I was struck by a statement from Walter Green, founder of the "Say it Now" movement: "We are not self-made. We are blessed to have people in our lives who make a difference. And we want to pay tribute to them while they’re here to say thank you."

This quote resonated deeply with me, as I considered the many people who have positively impacted my career and personal life.

What better way to pay tribute than to share those lessons learned with others?

I'm hopeful that this will be a jumping-off point for you, inspiring you to add your experiences and lessons learned. Who knows, together we might just create a Soar, Don't Settle "movement" that inspires others.

Movements happen when everyone involved has a sense of belonging and a profound mission. We "move" because we belong. In the coming months, I hope you find something here that sparks that feeling of knowing and belonging.

Join me in this shared conversation around lessons learned in business, leadership, and life that will enable you to Soar, not just settle. Let's make this journey one that inspires and uplifts.
