Webinar on Importance of Partnerships in Education:

We launched our Evidence Hub with a Webinar on Importance of Partnerships in Education. We would like to extend our immense gratitude to moderator Devang Vussonji (Director of Elimu-Soko), and panellists - Donika Dimovska (Chief Knowledge Officer at Jacobs Foundation), George Cowell (Chief Strategy Officer at Rising Academy Network) and Ian Attfield ?(Senior Education Manager at FCDO) - for their insights into seeding partnerships between government and non-state actors.

?3 key takeaways from the session:

  • Sustainable and Trust-Based Partnerships: Long-term partnerships with governments can lead to significant progress and deeper mutual understanding, emphasising the importance of sustained collaboration over multiple years. Building trust requires consistent communication, dedicated effort, and collaboration to achieve shared goals.
  • Flexibility and Alignment with Government Needs: When government needs differ from an organisation’s offerings, it’s crucial to listen, adapt, and ensure that demands on schools are manageable. Effective partnerships require reflection, humility, and flexibility, with each partnership tailored to its specific context. Aligning educational initiatives with local needs (such as focus on the medium of instruction aligned with government policies and sensitivity to student needs), ensures better outcomes.
  • Innovative Mindset for Systemic Change: A strong organisational culture that embraces innovation and maintains a long-term mindset is crucial for navigating challenges and driving systemic change. By leveraging fresh perspectives and being responsive to evolving needs, ?successful partnerships can not only address challenges but also influence broader policy shifts, ensuring lasting impact.
