Launching the Entrepreneurship Excellence Booster Program in Uganda

Launching the Entrepreneurship Excellence Booster Program in Uganda

We are pleased to announce the launch of the Entrepreneurship Excellence Booster Program, designed to empower Community Health Entrepreneurs (CHEs) with the skills, knowledge, and resources needed to enhance their effectiveness and sustainability. The pilot phase is currently underway in Uganda, targeting 50 dedicated CHEs who have demonstrated remarkable commitment and potential as Village Health Team (VHT) members.?

Program Objectives?

Our primary objectives for this Booster Program include:?

  1. Enhancing Medical Knowledge: Through comprehensive medical coaching provided by our telehealth department, CHEs will be better equipped to support government interventions. This training emphasizes prevention to keep communities healthy and effective access to treatment for those who become unwell.?

  1. Ensuring Adequate Stock Levels: By providing financial support, we aim to increase order values, ensuring CHEs have sufficient stock to meet the health needs of their communities.?

Kickoff Meeting and Alignment of Goals?

The kickoff meeting marked a significant milestone, bringing together the first group of CHEs for an intensive full-day session.??

Key Outcomes:?

  • Understanding Motivations: We explored the passions and aspirations driving these CHEs, fostering a stronger sense of purpose and commitment.?

  • Practical Support and Training: KANSIIME KIIZA SCOVIA from the telehealth team provided invaluable medical and product knowledge coaching, using practical examples centered on skin health. CHEs now feel more equipped to deliver quality healthcare services within their communities.?

During our discussions, we identified key challenges and opportunities:?

  • Knowledge Gap in WASH (Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene): together with CHEs, we recognized the need to address this gap as a priority for government health interventions.?

  • Role in Prevention: CHEs appreciated our emphasis on prevention and chose to include more preventive products in their orders.?

  • Stock Management: CHEs identified stock shortages as a significant challenge and expressed a desire for larger stock quantities to better serve their communities and reduce healthcare costs.?

Tools and Action Plan Development?

CHEs were introduced to the Booster Performance Dashboard, a tool designed to monitor progress, provide feedback, and identify areas for improvement, ensuring continuous growth and effectiveness in reporting.?

Together, we developed an Action Plan to guide their activities, including strategies for building healthier communities and growing their businesses, providing a clear roadmap for achieving their goals.?

Moving Forward: Building Healthier Communities?

The kickoff meeting marked a significant step towards addressing community health challenges in Uganda through innovative and sustainable means. By empowering CHEs, we are not only enhancing healthcare delivery but also fostering entrepreneurship and community development. The lessons learned from this pilot phase will inform the expansion of the program, potentially transforming health outcomes across Africa.?

In conclusion, the Entrepreneurship Excellence Business Booster program represents a novel and impactful approach to improving community health in Africa. By focusing on CHEs and providing them with the necessary tools and support, we are paving the way for a healthier and more prosperous future for all.?

Great initiative!! Small remark: higher stock levels do not necessarily solve shortages. Often it’s the other way around. Go for reliability and Just-in-Time. [ interested? My books, like Lean Thinking for Emerging Healthcare Leaders might be a great addition to your curriculum LeanThinkinginHealthcare.com ]
