Launching All-Inclusive Resorts
Anthony Capuano
President and Chief Executive Officer at Marriott International
Everywhere I go around the world, I hear the same buzz from hotel developers -- vacationers increasingly are asking for an all-inclusive experience. Today’s travelers want premium and luxury, worry-free vacations with brands they trust.
It makes perfect sense. That’s why Marriott International has launched an all-inclusive platform to service that global vacation segment. We’ve signed management contracts to build five, new all-inclusive resorts in Mexico and the Dominican Republic. The resorts are expected to open between 2022 and 2025. I couldn’t be more delighted.
What’s exciting and distinctive for us, I think, is that the all-inclusive properties will feature iconic brands that our guests already know and love including: The Ritz-Carlton, Luxury Collection, W Hotels, Westin Hotels, Marriott Hotels, Autograph Collection and Delta by Marriott. And our 133 million Marriott Bonvoy members can earn and redeem points to book rooms and excursions at these properties.
The all-inclusive segment is somewhat new to Marriott. With the Starwood Hotels & Resorts acquisition in 2016, we gained valuable experience when we assumed operations of the Westin Golf Resort & Spa, Playa Conchal in Costa Rica. For us, this segment represents a natural progression that reflects our ongoing commitment to innovation as consumer travel needs evolve.
We’re starting off with more than 2,000 rooms, representing an investment by hotel developers of more than $800 million. The initial planned resorts are an Autograph Collection resort in Punta Cana, Dominican Republic, and four properties on one oceanfront site in Mexico’s Riviera Nayarit to be called NIA. It will offer: The Ritz-Carlton resort, Westin Hotels resort, Autograph Collection resort and a Marriott Hotels resort.
Over time, we’ll expand in popular, leisure destinations worldwide with a mix of newly-built properties and conversions of existing resorts. Our resorts won’t be cookie cutter. Amenities, culinary options and experiences for all ages will be tailored to each brand. That means Marriott Hotels resorts, for example, will cater primarily to families while W Hotels resorts will cater to adults.
There will be an all-inclusive resort for everyone, and I can’t wait to see you there.
Semi-retired and working on what makes me happy.
4 年I could go for that! Wherever we travel, I always search for all inclusive resorts/spa...there's not very many notable ones out there. Miraval (desert scene) in Tucson AZ (all inclusive spa, health, mindfulness experiences) was an independent property that Hyatt expanded upon. A great template to check out. Another one is Cloud Camp in CO (mountain scene) by Broadmoor (all inclusive wilderness+gourmet experiences). Please have properties that are for famies with children and also only for adults. If you need a mystery shopper, let me know.
