LaunchGood: the Crowdfunding Platform that has transformed the way of supporting Muslims worldwide!

I don’t know how even to start describing how amazing this platform is. I’ve stumbled upon LaunchGood this past June and since then I’m hooked up. It's a place that allows Muslims from anywhere in the world to work together on making positive projects possible. I’m just really amazed!!

So what’s LaunchGood ?

LaunchGood is a Crowdfunding Platform that focuses on supporting the muslims community worldwide. It was founded by Chris Blauvelt, Amany Killawi and Omar Hamid, and it went live in October 2013. LaunchGood has succeeded in raising funds for 5096 campaigns with a total of 55,169,980$ raised till now in 121 countries and the platform has currently 279,621 users and the number is continuing to increase every day. LaunchGoodhas received multiple awards, including the Islamic Economy Award for Small & Medium Enterprises (SME), and the American Muslim Consumer Conference (AMCC), Entrepreneur Showcase.

How does it work and what makes it different?

So let’s just start with explaining what is crowdfunding in a simple way. Crowdfunding is when you fund a campaign or venture by taking a small amount of money from a crowd or a large number of people. For example, let’s say that I know a poor woman who has cancer and can’t afford the 100,000$ treatment costs. So using LaunchGood Crowdfunding Platform, I will create a campaign asking the crowd or people to donate to this goal of raising 100,000 dollars and I will set a deadline for raising this amount for example 30 days. The donors, each one will participate within his/her capacity so each one can donate with whatever he/she can afford even if it's only 1$. At the end of the 30 days, the amount collected will be used to help this woman in paying her treatment costs. It’s just as simple as that and you can contribute to the larger good and the community with the touch of a button.

Crowdfunding is not a new idea as there are other popular crowdfunding websites like Kickstarter, GoFundMe, Indiegogo, and others. But what makes launchgood different is it's focus on supporting the muslims community and projects related to islamic causes exclusively. We as muslims love charity and love helping others

and as Allah says "Who's the one who will loan Allah a goodly loan, so he will multiply it for him, and for him is a noble reward" (57:11)

and as Allah Says"Spend (in Charity) O son of Adam, and I shall spend on you"(Hadith Qudsi)

and as the Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him.) said "Giving Charity does not decrease your wealth" (Sahih Muslim 2588)

So we are as a community eager to increase our good deeds and with a platform like this we will be able to choose whatever kind of cause or good deed we want to support worldwide, I mean how awesome is that when you can have a share in building 100 different mosques (houses of Allah) all over the world or saving 100 lives in different countries with just donating as little as one dollar for each cause!

In LaunchGood, you can be a donor, a campaign creator, or both. As a donor, you can choose from hundreds of causes and campaigns in various countries to support and you can donate starting from as low as one dollar. As a campaign creator whether you are an individual or an organization, you can create a campaign for the cause you want people to support, set the amount you want to raise and the deadline of this campaign and then you will be assigned a campaign coach at no extra cost to assist you in launching your campaign and suggesting the best strategy for achieving your goal. It's just as simple as that!

What is LaunchGood Fee?

LaunchGood’s service fee is 5% of the money raised on the site and a third-party service used for credit card transactions takes another 3%. Also, Supporters have the option to cover the 8% in fees upon online checkout and since over 70% of supporters already do so, LaunchGood costs 2.5% average net fees which is lower than the fees of the other popular crowdfunding platforms and less than the credit card processing fees!
