Launched Bridges (2-day, on-site course)
This face-to-face course explores the design, construction, technology and industry trends of steel and prestressed-concrete bridges built by incremental launching. You will learn under which circumstances is bridge launching a competitive solution, will explore alternative construction methods, and will compare alternatives in preparation of successful value engineering sessions.
With extensive illustrations and dozens of case studies, the course explores launch bearings and guides, thrust systems, design optimization tools for the nose-deck interaction, the RTM method for parametric analysis of the launch stresses, local and global launch stability of steel girders, as well as launch post-tensioning, deck segmentation, casting yard organization, and performance and productivity of the different launch methods for prestressed-concrete bridges.
The courses that I teach for the Continuing Education Program of the American Society of Civil Engineers and on-demand in the offices of bridge owners, designers and constructors are true learning experiences to train bridge teams in modern bridge design and construction technology while meeting continuing education objectives.
The courses foster innovation and professional development – promoting technical culture is indeed an excellent way to motivate, train and retain staff. Richly illustrated with hundreds of photographs and case studies, the courses are constantly top-rated for material and presentation.
