?? In the Spotlight: Digital Romania 2030 Manifesto

To kick things off, we’d like to introduce you to our recently launched Digital Romania 2030 Manifesto. This is more than just a vision, it’s a concrete plan for a tech-driven future.

?? Why Do We Need This Manifesto?

Technology isn’t just a nice-to-have anymore. It’s the engine powering modern economies. From boosting business efficiency to enhancing public services, tech holds the key to growth and competitiveness.

Romania is at a pivotal moment, with massive EU funding opportunities and a renewed focus on technology powered by the Draghi Report. We need strong leadership, clear direction, and the right incentives to seize this chance—and that’s where our Manifesto comes in.

?? Challenges Facing Romania’s IT&C Sector

Romania’s IT&C sector is vibrant and contributes significantly to the country’s GDP. However, it’s facing several hurdles: talent shortage, low digital skills at the general population level, a digitalization gap, connectivity issues and a fragmented digital governance.

Going forward, the sector needs to shift from an outsourcing-focused model to one centered on innovation and intellectual property development.

? Key Recommendations from the Digital Romania 2030 Manifesto

Our Manifesto lays out 10 key recommendations, built around 3 main pillars:

• Industry Development: Maintain a stable fiscal framework, promote innovation through an integrated policy package, and scale up Romania’s tech ecosystem through investments and international expansion.
• Digital Transformation: Speed up tech adoption in both the public and private sectors, strengthen cybersecurity, and improve connectivity. One standout recommendation? Appointing a Deputy Prime Minister for Digitalization to oversee all national digital projects with dedicated money in the national budget
• Digital Society: Reform education to respond to industry needs and enhance digital skills, roll out a national digital identity system, and pursue a citizen-centered digital transformation in public services.

?? Celebrating Tech Education Champions

In less than a month we will come together to celebrate cutting-edge innovation in education as we reveal the 2024 winners of ANIS Grants at our gala on November 7th.

The ANIS Grants (#BurseleANIS) program is our flagship educational initiative. Through this program, we collaborate with university professors, lecturers, and Ph.D. students to seamlessly integrate the latest technologies into academic curricula while fostering collaborations between academia and the tech industry.

Since its launch, we’ve proudly funded over 67 projects, with a total of 335,000 EUR invested. Each selected project is awarded a 5,000 EUR grant, and for 2024, we’re excited to award a record-breaking 15 grants!
