Launch of Ocean Comms ‘Better Practice Principles’

We are pleased to announce that the Advancing Strategic Ocean Communication project has launched its ocean communication ‘Better Practice Principles’.

The principles are a set of guidelines or standards that have been developed as a foundational resource for the project. As a first of its kind effort in the ocean space, they represent a wealth of knowledge, experience and learning from ocean communication efforts across the globe. The principles were co-produced by four expert chapter groups and a justice, equity, diversity and inclusion advisory board.

They are named ‘better’ rather than ‘best’ practice principles both to recognise that many communicators are aiming to improve output within limited resources and also to acknowledge the constantly evolving nature of communication gold standards.

The project will deliver a series of webinars and workshops starting in February 2025 through the run up to UNOC to help communicators apply these principles to their work. To stay updated on the project please sign up to the mailing list here.
