I was in #Stockholm on 21 March for the launch of the latest #UNDP Human #Development Report: "Human Development For All".
The Report is particularly relevant to how the aspiration of the #2030Agenda for Sustainable Development and the Sustainable Development Goals ( #SDGs ) can be met. It focuses on those who have been left behind as their countries develop, and on the policy mix needed to address that.
Across societies, similar groupings suffer relative disadvantage: #women and #girls, #rural populations, persons with #disabilities, #indigenous peoples, ethnic and faith minorities, older persons, and #LGBTI. For many, exclusion is deeply rooted in norms and custom, and often in law too. This can be changed!
The report recommends a mix of universal and target initiatives to overcome exclusion, calls for better and disaggregated data to inform policy-making, and calls for fairer global governance to ensure that all countries and regions can have their needs addressed.
We were privileged to be joined at the launch by the Prime Minister of Sweden, Stefan #Lofven, and the Deputy Prime Minister, Isabella #Lovin. #Sweden itself is a clear example of achieving human #development for all, and is now leading on #sustainable development too.
