This year a happening month to say the least. My debut book, Heir – End of Innocence was released. Though the publisher #Invincible Publication, had a lot of faith in the novel, I was not sure as how an erotic, political thriller set in 50 CE India would be accepted. Still, there was an huge urge for me to tell this story.
Padmakishori was demanding me to be the medium for her story. She wanted me to tell the world, that how one day her dreams were robbed and she was to secure the fate of two kingdoms. Married to a man older than her father, Padmakishori was obstinate enough not to accept an unfulfilled sexual life with her husband as a dictum of destiny.
I took leap of faith to bring Padmakishori as she tried to secure her amorous way of life, intertwined with lives and decisions, memories and lives of four generations to life. (Do check it out: smarturl.it/heir)
It paid off. One of the pleasant surprise was an invitation to be a part of prestigious “Times of India Literary Fest”
It was a moment of pride when the book was launched at TOI Lit Fest by none other than “Sadiqa Peerbhoy”. I need to confess, one of the series that got me hooked to something called idiot box (which I disagree with my whole heart and soul. But this debate it for some other time). There may have been a lot a horror thriller shows that followed, nothing can beat “Honee Anhonee”.
The launch of Heir – End of Innocence gave me a chance to meet “Sheila Kumar”. While, she says that writing is easier than speaking, I loved the way she spoke, which had the fineness and delicate flow of novel along with the power punches of a journalist. Her travel-log is such an interesting read. A reader lives a thousand lives before he dies; reading her travel-log, was like visiting places that I had never had a chance to visit so far.
And then there was Shuma Raha. Her novel is based on the city, I lived for 14 years and loved it with my heart. It brought loads of memories and aching pain for the winters of NCR.
It was my first time in any Literary Fest and being a part of author lounge, meeting such wonderful people and having my book launched by such distinguished writers, was one of the best experiences of my life.
I would thank Vinita for such a successful event. I am looking forward to the next one.
