Latina Equal Pay Day Campaign: October 3rd and All Week!

We’re getting closer to Latina Equal Pay Day on October 3rd, and I want to take a moment to address why this day matters so much. On average, Latinas in the U.S. earn only 57 cents for every dollar paid to white, non-Hispanic men. This pay gap means that Latinas must work nearly 22 months to earn what others make in just 12 months. It’s a harsh reality that impacts our daily lives, families, communities, and futures.

The Latina pay gap doesn’t just reflect one year’s paycheck—it negatively impacts generations, affecting the ability to build wealth, save for retirement, and provide for our families. In fact, Latinas lose more than $1 million over a 40-year career due to the wage gap. This is unacceptable, and we need change.

The Impact of the Wage Gap:

  • $1,163,920: The amount the average Latina loses to the wage gap over her career.
  • 22 months: The time it takes for a Latina to earn what a white, non-Hispanic man earns in a year
  • No. 1 industry for Latina workers: The service sector, where wages are often lower, benefits are lacking, and the wage gap is even wider.

This is why Latina Equal Pay Day is so important. It's a day to come together, use our voices, and demand change.

Join My Latina Equal Pay Day Campaign

This year, I’m leading a 5-day LinkedIn campaign to raise awareness and push for pay equity from September 30th to October 4th, and I’d love for you to be part of it! Here’s how you can join:

  1. Use the Latina Equal Pay Day photo frame on your LinkedIn profile picture for the week. Latina Equal Pay Frame (PLEASE MAKE A COPY!)
  2. Pick a prompt: I’ve created a set of prompts for each day of the campaign. You can share personal stories, statistics, or ideas for how we can close the wage gap. Feel free to choose the ones that resonate with you most!
  3. Use the hashtags: Don’t forget to tag your posts with #LatinaEqualPay, #CloseTheGap, and #LatinaLeaders to amplify the conversation.
  4. Engage your community: Tag others, share posts, and spark conversations about the importance of Latina pay equity.

  • Discuss the intersectionality of race and gender and how it amplifies pay disparities for Latinas.

Our time is now, and by raising awareness, advocating for policy change, and demanding fair pay, we can make a real difference for future generations of Latinas.
