These factors align with the Greenhouse Gas (GHG) Protocol average data method and help to calculate carbon emissions across a wide range of activities and processes.

Plastic-free July Initiatives from Hobbs House Bakery and Abel & Cole

This plastic-free July, we’re highlighting our clients’ efforts to reduce single-use plastics!

Hobbs House Bakery has achieved a 3.6% reduction in wrapped products through creative and sustainable packaging solutions. They encourage customers to choose unwrapped bread, use paper bags, and employ reusable and recyclable plastic bags when necessary. Coming soon, Hobbs House will introduce paper wraps at Co-op stores, combining labelling and barcoding with minimal plastic use.

Abel & Cole has been saying no to pointless plastic since 1988. Recently awarded the Grocer Gold Award, they’ve introduced Club Zero Refillable Milk, the UK’s first refillable milk packaging made from 100% polypropylene. This innovation cuts the carbon footprint in half compared to single-use glass bottles, saving 450,000 plastic milk bottles and reducing carbon emissions by 60 tonnes annually.
