The latest technology will not make you more creative.

Some people have a tendency to think having the latest tools and technology will make them more creative - wrong.
Aside from draining your cash resources or putting you into debt you are using gear and technology as a crutch, and that is not a good thing. Crutches are used if something is broken, so if you are using one maybe your creativity is broken.
This thinking can also deter people who feel they don't have the funds to pursue their creative passions, and that is sad.
Some of the best photographers in the past, ones that photographers today reference and hold in high esteem, used film cameras that you can now pick up for less than $200.
Hitchcock managed to make classic films without help from the kind of technology needed to make Star Wars.
The Beatles made albums that are still considered classics on studio equipment such as four tracks recorders that you pick up for next to nothing today.
Speaking of music, you can write an amazing song just as well on a $50 guitar as you can on a $5,000 guitar. A close friend of mine is a very busy and in demand professional session guitarist playing on albums and touring, one of his main guitars and the one he plays the most is a $200 copy of a Fender.
Jack White kind of got this point across in the opening for the film 'It Might Get Loud'.
It's easy to lean on the equipment, but you should be leaning on the ideas, the concepts, the creativity...your passion.
You can make art and a career with a $2 marker pen or a $3 can of spray paint. Don't believe me? Well maybe you'll believe Shantell Martin.
You are the creativity...not the tools. Your ideas and the expression of them is you.
If you can master a craft and bring your ideas to life without the need for expensive equipment then you are already ahead of the pack - you're a true creative.
So put away the credit card or that loan application, don't drain the ATM, instead maybe just empty that spare coin jar and see what you can make with less. Test yourself. Get back to creative basics. Let your mind, imagination, hands, eyes or whatever connect and work together to bring your thinking and ideas to life in their most simplest of forms. You may just find a new way of expressing yourself, you may just create a new style, find a new voice, or go in an unexpected and fresh direction. You wont know until you try.
Expensive gear and tools are for particular executional needs, they are not for thinking or creating. Some of the most amazing ideas you see on screen for the biggest science fiction movies started out as sketches with paper and pencil. Never forget that.
Think and create first. Get back to creative basics.
It's worth a shot, after all you're not exactly putting a lot on the line, so what have you got to lose?
