Road safety is one of the most important issues that society faces today. It has the ability to impact not just individuals, but also entire communities and businesses.

In today’s world, everybody is a road user – one way or another. The present transport systems in India have done a good job in minimizing distances between point A and point B. However, doing so has increased the risk for all users on the road, whether a vehicle or an individual on foot.
In India,?approximately 150,000 people are killed in road crashes every year, which constitutes 11% of the total fatality all over the world. Whilst death is obviously the most serious consequence of road-related crashes, there are also hundreds of thousands who are injured on the road – every single year.
The tech giant will now start showing speed limit prompts on Google Maps, based on the data shared by the local traffic authorities, starting with Bengaluru and Chandigarh. These speed limits will appear on the user's map screen depending on the roads they navigate.
Various government departments will spend around Rs 18 crore on road safety measures from the Himachal Pradesh Road Safety Fund this financial year.
