Department for Science, Innovation and Technology (DSIT) has commissioned Ecorys UK and Perspective Economics to conduct an evaluation of the UKC3 - UK Cyber Cluster Collaboration Programme to measure its impact and inform future interventions. It will aim to understand how effective the UKC3 Programme is in supporting clusters, how clusters are using the funding, and to gain insight into cluster governance structure. As part of the evaluation of the UKC3 programme, we would like to invite Cyber Cluster member organisations (anyone involved with cyber cluster activity) to participate in this survey.

CyberCamps for Girls and Young Women

Recognising the national skills shortages in CyberSecurity experts and the challenge that fewer women than men become CyberSecurity experts. The Open University has teamed up with Cisco to launch during 2023/24 CyberCamps for Girls and Young Women.

With almost 1,000 already signed up, CyberCamps is aimed at Girls and Young Women aged 13 to 19. This free project is supported by female CyberSecurity experts from all corners of the UK and is entirely distance-based. Offered as a collection of short, industry-ready courses, each participant can collect digital badges, to evidence their participation, as?well as prepare for the new Cisco Junior CyberSecurity Technician accreditation.

Please share this opportunity: https://bit.ly/CiscoCyberCamps . Further sprints will start throughout the year. Which means, anyone can join at any time if they wish.

Technology Access Programme open!

Through the DSbD Technology Access Programme (TAP), qualifying UK-based companies will have exclusive access to an Arm Morello evaluation board, with its cutting-edge CPU architecture.?

A Morello board is a real-world test platform developed by Arm to implement the Morello architecture, which is itself based on Capability Hardware Enhanced RISC Instructions (CHERI). CHERI is a distinct, RISC-V instruction set architecture developed by the University of Cambridge and SRI International. Both technologies serve to prevent and mitigate common memory-safety issues in C/C++ via their use of capabilities. Participants are encouraged to experiment with these technologies to uncover security vulnerabilities in their own products, using a combination of (1) spatial and temporal safety mechanisms, and (2) novel compartmentalisation models for shared libraries or coprocesses.

In addition to receiving a Morello evaluation board, participating companies will get access to the CHERI software stack, technical guides, and expert support to get started and trial these new technologies within their systems. The duration of the Technology Access Programme is 6 months. After successful completion of the programme, participating companies will be permitted to keep the Morello evaluation board.

The TAP is a tiered programme; qualifying companies will receive a £15,000 grant during the experimentation period. The programme is administered by Digital Catapult on behalf of UK Research and Innovation (UKRI).
