Google ads: Google quietly increases prices
People in the industry has suspected this for a while and Google has now confirmed that they have increased their prices of up to 10%, to meet their revenue targets.
This specially affects companies that lets Google handle the bidding, where you are not in full control of what you are willing to pay for a click. Our advice is to control the bidding on keywords fully and keep an eye out if you use target ROAS, for instance, and monitor the cost closely.
Google is also being sued due to allegations of using underhand tactics to stay number 1 as a search engine, and keep their monopoly. This includes bribing companies like Apple to promote Google products. The secret price increase could be used as proof that they have an illegal monopoly.
Is Temu the next Amazon?
Have you also gotten ads in your social media feed from Temu? This new company (for Sweden) if aggressively targeting everyone everywhere. We don't know a lot about them yet, other than they have low prices and a wide product range.
They also have a very aggresive strategy in Google ads, and are not afraid to use competitors brands in their ads. So, go to your ads account and make sure that your brand name is protected.
Social Media Ads: Verify your business account
Meta recently launched the possibility to verify your business account, the same way that you could pay to verify your personal account. This is not released in Sweden yet, but there is a waitlist and we recommend you get on it.
What you get if you get verified:
The verification costs $21.99 on Facebook and Instagram, or $34.99 on both. We don't know exactly what the increased visibility means yet, and how good the support really is for non-advertisers. But, we do see an increase of companies loosing their accounts and if that happens, its a fairly low price to pay to get it back. It's also a trust indicator, on platforms where trust is more and more important.
