East of England APPG highlights importance of the region's road network
On 12 September, our CEO Andrew Summers made the case for investment in the East’s roads to Department for Transport Minister Richard Holden at an East of England APPG:
With dispersed towns and a large rural population, roads will remain crucial to safe, reliable day-to-day journeys across the region?as part of an integrated transport network. They’re also essential in supporting freight movements through our ports which help the regional and national economy to thrive.
Prior to the APPG we provided members with a briefing outlining the East of England's strategic and major road networks and a list of projects which have been identified as priorities.
2023 Net Zero Conference
On 20 September, we joined East of England Local Government Association ,? England's Economic Heartland and the CILT (UK) in hosting the 2023 East of England Net Zero Conference. Partners from the public and private sector came together to explore the following themes:?
Attendees heard from influential speakers and discussed issues in detail in breakout room discussions.
Funding available for zero emission buses to connect communities in England
The Department for Transport (DfT) has announced £129 million of funding for Zero-Emission Buses (ZEB) to help decarbonise public transport and develop innovative ideas to ensure future infrastructure is low-carbon and resilient.
The scheme is open to local transport authorities (LTAs) that haven't received ZEB funding before and will initially target rural areas before expanding to other geographies. ?

Transport Select Committee’s call for evidence?
The Transport Committee inquired into how the Government sets its strategic transport objectives and how these objectives do - or should - influence decisions on investment in, and cross-government planning of, services, networks and infrastructure.

Greater Anglia launches Hare Fares for Autumn!
Greater Anglia 's ‘Hare Fares’ are back. Tickets start from just £5 return for a limited time, meaning people in East Anglia can enjoy great days out by train for less this autumn.
There is no limit on the number of tickets that can be bought, but they must be booked between 25 September and 17 October for travel between 25 September and 3 December.
Spectators cheer on Tour of Britain riders across Suffolk and Essex
It was great to see so many people across Suffolk and Essex supporting the Tour of Britain riders!?
During 7-8 September, spectators were encouraged to come out and cheer on the racers and hopefully be inspired to make more of their own journeys by bike, helping to reduce congestion and carbon emissions.?
