Welcome to the July edition of the Sleek Newsletter! British summer is in full swing, and we've got an exciting lineup of updates for you. This month, we take you behind the scenes at the exhilarating Goodwood Festival, share insights from our very own Sustainability Lead Gabriella Weekes , and reflect on the post-Covid comeback of the events industry. Goodwood Festival of Speed 2024

Earlier this month the Goodwood Festival of Speed, held in West Sussex, brought together legendary drivers, teams, and modern motorsport heroes for an unforgettable experience. Our Head of Business Development, Nastassja Keenes attended and had a blast. She couldn't wait to share some of her favourite moments with us. Here are some of her highlights:

宝马 truly stole the show with a unique activation featuring a guitarist, singer, and beatboxer. This talented trio performed throughout the day, drawing crowds under the sunny skies. The music added a lively and engaging atmosphere, making BMW’s stand a must-visit spot.

福特 brought an interactive edge to their stand with the Peloton bike experience. In conjunction with the All Electric Capri, attendees competed in a bike game, racing against each other to win. This activation not only highlighted Ford’s commitment to fitness and innovation but also engaged participants in a fun and energetic way.

比亚迪 targeted younger attendees with their exciting activations. As the official sponsor for the Euros, they set up TVs for playing FIFA and a mini football game. This allowed visitors to enjoy some friendly competition while exploring BYD’s latest offerings.


Sustainability Panel

Our very own Gabriella Weekes participated in an enlightening panel discussion at the Reset Connect event. Alongside industry experts Selina Donald , Joanne Fielding , and Donna Abberley , Gabriella shared valuable insights on sustainability, discussing the challenges and successes of implementing sustainability strategies. She also shared how Sleek measured emissions at our largest tech event using Trace.?

The panel highlighted barriers such as time, cost, and supply chain issues while Gabriella emphasised the need for industry focus groups to share knowledge and successes, fostering a collaborative approach to sustainability.

Jennifer Davidson Talks Post-Covid Comebacks

While we’re always looking forward at Sleek, our founder, Jennifer Davidson , took some time this month to look back on the impact of Covid, what it meant for us, and how the live events industry can fully recover.

Sleek has been recognised by The Sunday Times in its feature, We nearly lost it all: the companies that survived Covid. We were listed alongside some incredible businesses that experienced the difficulties of Covid, but were able to come back. And, we came back stronger, having increased revenue by 139% since the end of the pandemic.?

But, sadly, not every part of the events industry has managed to bounce back as significantly. This month, Jennifer spoke with Automotive World about the difficulties faced by The Geneva International Motor Show following its forced closure as a result of Covid. Jennifer shared her thoughts on the state of the industry post-Covid and how this new era presents an excellent opportunity for the automotive industry to rebuild on a foundation of customer needs.
