How interpreters facilitate productive outcomes in mental health settings ?

Cultural awareness and sensitivity are indispensable skills for interpreters, allowing them to proficiently lead discussions in sensitive situations. For people who are at risk, it helps to have an interpreter who can establish rapport, provide background, and handle disputes if they arise, as this makes the service recipient more comfortable and can lead to better results. ?

The Mental Health Academy recently held a Suicide Prevention Summit, which was also sponsored by our telehealth partner, COVIU. The Summit explored topics such as safety and resilience, relationship distress, and social determinants. ?

More information on the summit’s presentations can be found here. Recordings can be viewed by registering here. ?
