• What’s in a Name? Naming rights for city rec centres could generate millions. Available facilities include Terwilliger, Clareview, Meadows and Lewis Farms recreation centres.

Fair and Equitable Taxation, Regulation and Policies

• Permits and Licensing Inquiries by Appointment Starting June 3, 2024, inquiries relating to permits and licensing at the Edmonton Service Centre will transition to an online, by-appointment model. This change applies to Development, Building and Trade (Electrical, Plumbing, Gas and HVAC) permits.
• Changes to Act and Charters Province announces proposed changes to the Municipal Government Act and Edmonton’s and Calgary city charters to increase housing supply and could widening the criteria for the Community Revitalization Levy.
• Tax Subclass on Derelict Properties drives 15 per cent increase in property cleanups by owners.
• Federal Government Drops Tax Change to REITs after stating, “no changes to the tax treatment of REITs are being considered at this time.”
• Calgary Endorses Indigenous Representation on ABCs Calgary council endorsed the policy change which allows representation on agencies, boards and commissions for any Indigenous person from Treaty 7 territory outside of Calgary.
