1. Sky owner Comcast has cut off free access to streaming service Peacock for its Xfinity X1 internet and Flex customers in the US.
2. Omdia analyst Tim Westcott said Q1 figures showing originals accounted for 35.6% of total Netflix viewing in the US, against 20.6% in Japan and 25.4% in South Korea, seem "surprisingly low", however he added: “The reasons for this could include: The continuing strong performance of certain non-original content, especially theatrical movies but also some TV series that have been acquired by Netflix. The Harry Potter movies and TV series like Brooklyn Nine-Nine and Rick and Morty feature among the top titles in other countries like Italy and Germany. Another reason is the depth of catalogue: Netflix has been originating since 2012, but still does not have the volume of Walt Disney, Warner Bros. Discovery or Paramount .”

3. Netflix has discontinued its C$9.99-per-month basic plan in Canada, with new customers having to choose between the $5.99 ad-supported tier and its $16.99 standard plan.
4. BritBox has launched on the Apple TV+ app in Denmark, Finland, Norway and Sweden. BritBox International CEO Reemah Sakaan said: “There’s long established fandom for British programming across the Nordic region, and we’re looking forward to fuelling this further, introducing new audiences to BritBox, building on our other collaborations in the region with C More , Telia and Prime Video & Amazon MGM Studios .”

5. Netflix has begun its crackdown on UK subscribers who allow access to their account to friends and family. The streaming giant believes around 25% of its 15m UK subscribers share their password with others, and warning emails are now being sent out. The email, described by the Guardian as 'polite but clear', states: “Your Netflix account is for you and the people you live with – your household.” Subscribers are then offered the option of adding another person to their account, for an extra £4.99 a month. A Netflix spokesman defined a household as “a collection of the devices connected to the internet at the main place you watch Netflix”.
6. Sport streaming service DAZN has extended its deal for LALIGA broadcasting rights in Japan by five years.
