AEG showcases evolution in hood technology

September began with the eyes of the home appliance industry focused on IFA Berlin , where we showcased our evolution in hood technology for our AEG brand.

The new AEG 8000 Perfect Illumination Hood unlocks the magical colors of food through masterful lighting. It has several brightness and colour settings that not only cast a more ambient light for a different mood in the kitchen, but more importantly, create a perfect environment for cooking.

Also on show at IFA was the new AEG 9000 AutoSense Hood. Its advanced sensor technology detects what’s happening on the hob and automatically adjusts the speed levels when cleaning the air of the kitchen. It uses our energy-efficient motor, reducing energy consumption by up to 48% (based on internal test for odour removal).

Its features include:

  • AutoSense - automatically freshens and cleans air by detecting and removing odours, grease and steam
  • Perfect Illumination - adjustable lighting for cooktop clarity
  • SilenceTech - removes cooking odors with minimum noise
  • Breeze – a function that quietly removes lingering odors for fresher air after cooking.
  • Grease Filter Notification - a convenient filter cleaning notification system

To complete the offer of hoods we revealed at IFA, the new Silentium kit accessory was also on show. It helps to transform a kitchen soundscape by effectively reducing the noise level to create the perfect atmosphere in your kitchen.

We'll be sharing more details of these innovative new products on our LinkedIn Page over the coming weeks.

A trio of hob innovations unveiled at IFA

IFA Berlin was also chosen for the world premiere of our groundbreaking AEG 8000 bridge XT SaphirMatt induction hob with scratch-resistant glass.

The unique SaphirMatt ceramic glass is able to withstand everyday use and abrasions, such as pots and pans being dragged on the cooktop, without being scratched. In fact, it can withstand up to four times fewer scratches compared to our standard ceramic hob[1]. (see footnotes at end of newsletter)

The SaphirMatt is easy to maintain as it is stain and fingerprint resistant and is twice as fast to clean compared to AEG’s standard ceramic hob surfaces[2]. Its elegant black matt finish adds a touch of style to any kitchen and is also 80% less reflective than a standard surface[3].

“The SaphirMatt hob is an absolute first for AEG,” said Christoph Walther , European Category Manager Hobs Innovation. “We have perfected a unique texture finish with superior scratch protection which keeps a hob looking new for longer, and we were very excited to reveal it for the first time ever at IFA this year.”

IFA also saw the official launch of the AEG 8000 Sense Boil & Fry hob, which makes assisted cooking?more effortless with a CookSmart Touch Display.

Assisted cooking functions pick the best settings for outstanding results, tailored to what’s been made. Functions include Sense Boil and Sense Fry. Need to boil water? Two clicks are all that’s needed to delegate boiling. Pan-frying? Three clicks and it’s delegated to the AEG 8000 Sense Boil & Fry. It also includes precise functions such as Melting chocolate.

A Dishes function provides step-by-step cooking guidance to expand a cooking repertoire successfully and easily and Eco Tips automatically displays hands-on tips to help save energy without compromising on results.

“Assisted cooking means people can now delegate tasks to the hob in order to get consistently perfect results” added Christoph Walther , “The AEG 8000 Sense Boil & Fry means overboiling and over frying are now things of the past while also helping to save energy.”?

The final hob innovation to be launched at IFA Berlin was the AEG 6000 Bridge Induction hob with integrated extractor. It brings all benefits of 70cm glass induction hob but fits easily?into a 60cm cabinet, with no need to cut on the internal sides of a cabinet. It also has a powerful built-in extractor with optimal air flow thanks to its aerodynamic design.

The AEG 6000 Bridge with Extractor hob also has a bridge function to merge zones for more room to cook.

Its Grease Filter and Long-Life Carbon Filter are also easy to clean in a dishwasher, helping kitchen air to stay fresh and the fan running at its best, for longer. Carbon filters can, after cleaning, be regenerated up to eight times, extending the filter’s life by up to three years.
