The latest from Pivotal: Incredible individuals who are sparking change with technology

In just the first few weeks since launch, my Pivotal podcast has featured four incredible individuals who are using technology to fight for the climate, protect fragile ecosystems, build community in a hybrid world, and empower frontline workers. This is what I wanted to do with Pivotal: to find these unseen heroes who are using tech to transform their organizations, communities and industries — and to tell their stories.

Here are some highlights from our first four episodes:

Episode 1 – Doing good is good for business with REI's Kate Wendt

We explored REI's BHAG (big hairy audacious goal), and it turns out they have a few. Today, REI uses tech to help live its purpose, connect with members, influence climate change action and social equity, and facilitate circular commerce across its supply chain — including an innovative use for those pervasive plastic bags.?

Episode 2 – Why data matters to conservation with Dr. Lilian Pintea???????

Jane Goodall's deep focus and ability to connect with chimpanzees revolutionized conservation science. In this episode, Dr. Lilian Pintea from the Jane Goodall Institute walks us through how AI is becoming a true partner to scientists as they continue to explore the fascinating and complex natural relationships among plants, animals, and humans in Sub-Saharan Africa.??

Episode 3 – Systemizing serendipity in the workplace with Genpact's Gianni Giacomelli

Gianni Giacomelli shares how his team uses analytics and AI to understand the rhythms of business and work relationships in the world of hybrid work. He talks about the challenges of designing tools that enable employee connection and belonging — and how AI can help organizations continue to adapt, evolve, and create a better workplace experience.

Episode 4 – Using people-first processes to drive technology adoption with IKEA's Nadja Soto?Huurre

Nadja Soto?Huurre?discusses the human side of tech adoption, and how IKEA’s people-first approach to rolling out a new scheduling tool helped her fellow?frontline workers feel valued, connected, and empowered while driving efficiency and cost savings.

I am inspired by what our podcast guests can achieve when they are empowered with technology to bring their innovative ideas to life.

I hope you've enjoyed these inaugural episodes, and continue to join us as we connect and learn from visionary leaders at all levels, from the frontline to the boardroom.

Up next, we will look at how accessibility is driving innovation at Microsoft, and how one Florida school district is using technology to change the way their teachers connect with students.

New episodes will be posted every other Wednesday, so subscribe to Pivotal wherever you get your podcasts to listen to new episodes when they are released.
