Our team is excited to be attending the annual American Evaluation Association conference in Portland later this month!

Join team members Michael Arnold and Evan A. Gattozzi for a roundtable session on Thursday, October 24, at 2:30 p.m. with our partners from the Lawrence Hall of Science and Justice Outside. This roundtable will focus on evaluating racial change at the organizational level, specifically speaking to our experience evaluating Working Toward Racial Equity (WTRE), a multi-year, NSF-funded training series that supports environmental and outdoor science organizations to build capacity to foster equitable, inclusive, and culturally relevant work environments and organizations. The full session description can be viewed on the #AEA2024 schedule website here.

Welcome, Amy!

Informing Change team member Amy Chu
New Informing Change team member Amy Chu

Last month, our team brought on a fresh face in Amy C. as our newest Research Assistant! As we were in need of a new RA (see next news item), we were thrilled to find someone of Amy's caliber to come on board after a thorough search. A UC Berkeley graduate, Amy worked at?the?Just Cities Institute and for Nutter Consulting prior to Informing Change.

Get to know Amy more below:

1. What is your favorite thing about working at Informing Change?

The people are amazing! Everyone has a variety of interests and passions and we are brought together by shared values.

2. What did you take for granted in a pre-COVID world that you don’t take for granted now?

In-person gatherings like community events, rallies, open mics, and concerts. I love event planning and hosting my friends and family.

3. Where is your ideal vacation destination?

I recently visited Queenstown, New Zealand and the waterfalls, snowy mountains, and forests were breathtaking. I would love to go to Iceland or somewhere to see the Northern Lights. I enjoy going anywhere where I can spend time close to nature and appreciate the flora and fauna.?

4. What’s your must-have accessory or accessories for working from home?

A tiny stuffed animal Boston lobster named Bostiny who I place on my desk as my work buddy.

5. What’s the most-used app on your phone (that you’re willing to admit you use)?

Messages, FaceTime, and Spotify. I'm chatting with friends and family or listening to music (maybe at the same time).

6. Do you have any recommended media to watch, read, and/or listen to from the past year or so (film, television, book, podcast, and/or album)?

The Mandalorian - I appreciate the Star Wars franchise, but Baby Yoda steals the show and makes every scene 10/10. Everything Everywhere All At Once - deserved every Oscar they got!

Congratulations, Ayenna!

Our new Associate Ayenna Cagaanan on Free Slurpee Day

Join us in congratulating Ayenna C. for being elevated from Research Assistant to Associate over the summer! Ayenna has brought many talents--and a love of Slurpees (especially on Free Slurpee Day)--to the team. As a valuable contributor, it was a natural progression in Ayenna's professional development to place her in a new role to expand and grow her responsibilities.

Lastly, we leave you with some photos from our recent annual staff retreat: full of rich discussions as well as fun. (Rest assured that we are better at evaluation than we are at bowling!)
