I trust this note finds you all well. As we roll out the second edition of our ICP Search newsletter, I wanted to take a moment to share a few thoughts.
Our journey into the heart of advanced technologies continues with a special focus on insightful conversations. In the upcoming podcasts, I had the privilege of sitting down with two remarkable individuals who have left an indelible mark on their respective fields.
Firstly, I had the pleasure of discussing leadership, opportunity, and the creation of luck with Paul Barber OBE, Chief Executive and Deputy Chairman at Brighton & Hove Albion Football Club . I shared many years with the club as a Trustee of their charitable arm, and his unique insights shed light on his life growing up and becoming one of the most respected CEO’s in World Sport right now. A great listen for anybody, in or outside of football, particularly on the topics of focus, creating luck and being a great leader.
The second conversation led me to an old friend, Sheila Flavell CBE, President at TechUK and COO at FDM Group. Sheila's wealth of experience in driving tech innovation and advocating for diversity and inclusion offers a perspective that resonates with our commitment to progress and positive impact. It was great reconnecting with her, her passion for all things tech is infectious.
My aim in these discussions was simple – to delve into real, unfiltered insights that can inspire, challenge, and inform our community. ICP Search has always been about connecting the right talent with the right opportunities, and these podcasts reflect our commitment to providing a platform for authentic conversations that matter.

As the President of techUK and a member of the Government’s Digital Skills Council, Sheila's influence also extends far beyond corporate achievements, with a commitment and passion for enhancing diversity in the workplace and creating exciting careers for the next generation of digital talent.
Beyond her professional prowess, Sheila has garnered numerous awards for services to the tech industry. She was recognized in the 2020 New Year’s Honors list with a CBE for her services to gender equality in IT and the employment of graduates and returners. She is also listed in the Computer Weekly’s ‘Most Influential Women in UK Tech Hall of Fame.’

Caring for Gen Z as mental wellbeing spirals out of control!
A wellbeing epidemic is gripping younger workers as absence due to mental ill health soars. A new report highlights the pressing need for supports to be put in place to further prevent the talent drain of a ‘lost generation’.
Just over a third of young people (34%) aged 18-24 reported symptoms of mental disorder in data collected between 2021-22. British think tank, The Resolution Foundation, funded by charity, The Health Foundation, highlights a hike of 10% from when the report was last published in 2000.

The findings mirror those found by the Champion Health’s Workplace Health Report for 2024 which found that 16–24-year-olds are struggling most with their mental health, stress, and financial wellbeing.
