The latest from Digital Care
There is a back to school feeling this week, and as we reach the end of the summer, Digital Care is now half way through its second year, which feels pretty remarkable. Time most definitely flying when you’re having fun! It has been a real privilege to be involved in such fascinating work, as well as a delight working with the impressive team.?
Here’s a roundup of some of our recent work and we do have some limited capacity to take on a number of new clients this autumn, so if you are looking for some implementation support and we could help, contact details are at the end of the article.?
Roundup of the past few months
We’ve recently completed very enjoyable work with Healthy.io , with Pip Hodgson and Lesley Soden delivering content on their innovative Digital Wound care Leadership Programme for nurses and other clinicians involved in wound care, keen to develop their digital and commercial skills. It was great working on this with Jimmy Endicott and the team, and we would gladly work on a similar programme again, that helps build capacity and skills of clinicians within the NHS. It was great to hear the incredibly positive feedback from participants about the impact of the programme.?
We have continued work with Royal Marsden Partners - the Cancer Alliance for West London. Pip has led this, providing valuable extra capacity to the team in delivering its extensive digital programme. This has included sophisticated stakeholder liaison across a wide number of NHS teams and the building of consensus around future digital investments and strategies. We have found it really interesting working with a Cancer Alliance and undertaking work that has such important benefits for people living with cancer. We’d be very interested in working with other Cancer Alliances to accelerate their work.?
I also worked with Lesley, Polly Shepperdson and the innovation team at First Databank thinking through their proactive care offer, and how the range of impressive products they have available can best link into healthcare today and tomorrow, given the current direction of travel in the NHS. This was an interesting piece of strategic advisory work that was highly participatory, with the highlight for me being the workshop that we held with the senior team in Bristol.?
I’ve continued to undertake a range of speaking engagements, keynoting at the the new HSJ Virtual Care Forum and at the major UK tech conferences such as Digital Health Rewired as well as overseas, including my first visit to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, and Riyadh where it was educational to compare notes on the progress of digital home care across a wide range of countries.?It was good to do the same when I met Fepulea'i Margie Apa , the CEO of Health New Zealand in May to share the UK's journey into virtual wards with a visit to the excellent hospital at home services provided in North West London with the Chelsea and Westminster Hospital NHS Foundation Trust .
Writing has continued, including in some new publications such as?on Friday, in Public Sector Focus -
And on the role of AI in Centre Write by Bright Blue which goes to every MP?in the country -
As well as the regular blogs on LinkedIn . Many thanks for the feedback and comments, they are much appreciated and please keep them coming!
We also produced “Show me the money!” A guide to funding for health tech in the NHS. Lesley Soden was the lead author of this guide which we shared with interested others over LinkedIn in May and were amazed at the level of interest and numbers of requests we received; demonstrating Lesley definitely was “on the money” with this one.?
Looking ahead
I'm very pleased to announce that I have extended with Doccla for another year, and am looking forward to working with their many clients in the NHS in England, Wales and Scotland and the HSE in Ireland and beyond, over the next 12 months. There are some very interesting new applications of digital home care across Doccla clients going live this autumn and it will be great to see the impact of these.?
Digital Care also has an exciting project in the wings with PUBLIC , more on that to follow. It is great to further deepen our partnership with PUBLIC and Ryan Shea who has been terrific to work with.?
We are busy with speaking engagements and dates coming up over the autumn include Jenny Thomas at the Westminster Health Forum on 16 September, I’ll be keynoting at the Bupa Global Symposium on 15 October, and Pip Hodgson will be presenting at the Specialist Transplant Pharmacists conference on 16 November.?Other international talks coming up for me in the next couple of months will be in Canada and France.
Coming up on 19 September is Lesley’s not-to-be-missed Bidwriting for Healthcare Expert Tips & Tricks online seminar - see her LinkedIn post for sign up details.?
Opportunity to work together
The team at Digital Care has some capacity from this autumn onwards, to undertake interesting new work. In particular Pip Hodgson, Jenny Thomas and Lesley Soden have scope to assist with digital health projects over the months ahead. This is a great opportunity to get expert help into your projects as each have fascinating backgrounds in both the NHS and the digital health sector, operating highly effectively at senior levels as you can see from their bios:

A few of our client testimonials
"Tara and the team brought a dynamic to this new venture that we couldn't have achieved on our own. Their expertise in business case writing was so critical in helping our delegates develop the key skills they need to make positive changes in the NHS, and to hear from Digital Care's experts about the accomplishments they have achieved in digital health change-making, both at a strategic thinking level and in terms of sheer grit and determination, helped give the course the confidence-boosting element that was needed, to generate a mass momentum effect."??
Jimmy Endicott, Programme Director, Digital Woundcare Leadership Programme?
"It’s been a joy working with Tara and Jenny as they’ve helped us build local confidence in the digital home care model and achieve greater patient uptake."?
Martin Ratz, Founder, Doccla?
“Thanks to partnering with the Digital Care team, we have been able to build consensus for complex change programmes across organisations, including clinical and technical teams, engage with a range of suppliers to understand our market options and maintain momentum.”
Susan Sinclair, Managing Director, RM Partners - West London Cancer Alliance?
Project lead: Pip Hodgson?
“I commissioned Tara and Lesley to complete a swift but important piece of work and was delighted with the quality of outcome, their ability to engage positively with staff and their wider knowledge of the subject matter. I would definitely recommend them for similar pieces of work which require sound judgement and the ability to work with others quickly but for a short piece of time to deliver real results.”
David Probert, Chief Executive, University College London Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust?
It's great to see the Digital Care team is gearing up for a busy term ahead. What kind of projects are you most looking forward to taking on, and how do you see your team's expertise making a meaningful impact?
