The Latest from Bone & Marrow

The Latest from Bone & Marrow

It has been almost two weeks since I started Bone & Marrow, a blog that documents my journey through Wenton O. Spence’s cookbook, Jamaican Cookery: Recipes from Old Jamaican Grandmothers. My mom gifted this cookbook to me for my 20th birthday, and it wasn't until recently that I realized I had never cooked anything inside it, despite constantly missing her Jamaican cooking. Bone & Marrow will continue to follow me as I stumble — and occasionally cry — around my kitchen in an attempt to learn how to cook like my mom, and her mom, and her mom. Until I learn how to cook food worth eating to the bone and reach the marrow of my Jamaican roots.
