This week has been Birmingham Tech Week, the biggest annual technology event in the UK. As a patron – and a business based in Birmingham – this has been a real moment of pride for us at OneAdvanced. Birmingham and the West Midlands have been a centre for innovation for over two centuries, and that’s not changed. As we look towards the next industrial revolution, we are seeing exciting new ideas and technologies being developed in our region.
AI has been a key topic for discussion this week, assessing the capabilities we will see in future. We have also been discussing some of the challenges facing the tech sector in our region, which will continue to evolve as the sector evolves. Skills and infrastructure have been key concerns for leaders who have spoken at this year’s events. It’s important to stay informed about the latest developments in the technology landscape, which you can do by connecting with us at OneAdvanced.

?? Our latest news
As one of the UK’s leading technology businesses, we recognise our responsibility to invest back into the growth of the sector in our region. We are proving our commitment to this goal through our patronage of Birmingham Tech Week and TechWM – the not-for-profit organisation behind the event. This is really important to our future, both as an employer and as a tech provider. We are investing in a community of innovation, as well as the skills and training needed to nurture the innovators of the future. Learn more about our promise to our region here .
This Wednesday, we were proud to host an event that makes a real impact on the future of skills and innovation in our local community. We work closely with education providers in Birmingham and the West Midlands, so we invited a group of local colleges to send teams to our ESG Student Hackathon. Through the day, a group of young people had the chance to learn more about what ESG (environment, social and governance) is, what key issues we are facing and what kinds of innovation can make a difference. Then, they worked in teams to design solutions that could have a positive ESG impact. You can learn more about this exciting event in our latest blog .
