Latest Edition! 50 PLUS Fitness Newsletter!

Welcome! This newsletter is for the 50 PLUS crowd. Those who want to take control of their fitness and wellness. Dudes who still want to get after it!?

Rage, Rage against the dying of the light. (Dylan Thomas, remember?)

It ain’t always easy being 50 PLUS but if you’re up to the challenge,?

LET’S GO TO WORK!

Exercise of the Week: This Push Ups and Squats sequence is a total body beauty. Great way to finish off a workout or to do when no equipment is available or you’re short on time.?Video demo: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ASXmpe0gyIc

Nutrition:?

Most of us eat more than we think we do. Start taking some portion accountability. Late night eating? That’s no bueno. No time to burn it. It does a slow travel with many pit stops and rears its ugly head upon wake up. “Did I really need that sleeve of cookies?”?

Wellness:

Sleep is the new sleep. Get more of it. And take some preventive measures to ensure the quality. With all the assorted gizmos we have in the bedroom it looks like mission control. Remember the Led Zeppelin tapestry we hung over our dorm room windows? That’s how dark it should be.?

Workout Song of the Week:?

You Could Be Mine by Guns and Roses! Loved it especially in Terminator 2. BTW, GnR will be touring this summer. I’ll see them September 15th at the Hard Rock Live in Hollywood, FL.?

How you doin’??

A quick health check is staring back at you from the toilet. I’ll leave it at that.?

Thought of the Week:?

LFG. I really mean that. LFG. So what that we’re 58 or 68? Let’s get moving. Do what you can RIGHT NOW. Do a little bit more tomorrow. Get up. Get moving. Get Sweaty.?

Aches, Pains and Obstacles:

My very unscientific report. After 50, something always hurts. If it doesn’t, you’re not training intensely enough. (Can’t wait for the pushback on that one!)?

If I had a dollar….

Every time someone tells me, “Tomorrow, I’ll get started.” And doesn’t.?

Got me thinking…I don’t advocate living like Hunter S. Thompson did, but I do love this quote. “ Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside in a cloud of smoke, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming ‘Wow! What a ride!’”

Looking Ahead:?

Many falls are caused by catching your foot along the ground then going into a stumble and fall. Start practicing long, confident strides.?

Who is this guy?

I’m Ray Salomone. I’ve been a trainer longer than most trainers have been alive. I was a two-time winner of the US Army Physical Fitness Award. I had a brief?(three hours!) yet illustrious career on Wall Street (Please ask me about this!) and I’ve been the private personal trainer to many of the most prominent men and women in finance, real estate, tech and media.?

I’m 58 years old and I will not go gentle into that good night (Dylan Thomas, again).?

Join me on this journey to beat back aging.
