Late Year Resolutions
Stan's Note:
Are you ok?
?
I haven't been asking this enough lately.
?
I've been too busy, weak excuse I know.
?
My team though are feeling it.
?
It's been a big year.
?
We've been growing and changing so much lately that it gets stressful.
?
For my young team they don't really understand why things must change so often.
?
It's hard for them when every day we are tweaking every single part of the business to try and do better for our customers.
?
Why does their job have to constantly change?
?
Why can't they just have a day of normality?
?
Why does Stanley keep evolving what we do?
?
This constant change whilst also trying to deliver on our existing client's work can be exhausting and stressful for the team.
?
But as a young fast start up business this is the norm.
?
As we grow things will break and change constantly.

?
But, it's my job as their leader to keep the ship steady and try and keep the team sane.
?
Recently I haven't been asking them enough if they are ok.
Because I too have been busy with the growth and changes.
?
But, this isn't an excuse.?
?
In fact it's pretty piss poor of me to say the least.
?
So, I have started making sure I've booked in everyone for one on one catch ups in the team to spend time with them and ask them if they are ok.
?
Have you asked those around you recently if they are doing ok?
?
Don't wait for New Years to make the resolution.
Cheers,
Stan

2 年Nice one bro! So important. I try and ask this every time I meet with a team member. It’s just too easy to jump straight into the task at hand or business stuff and not take a min or two (not much time really) to just check in on them, their families, or any other stuff going on in their life. If we don’t get to know our teams intimately, like it or not, you won’t get the best out of them. More than ever it’s imperative that managers and leaders check in and get more interested in how their team are “actually” doing. It will pay off in dividends with retention and happiness at work, as you won’t get way down the track and suddenly they aren’t happy and you end up spending so much time energy and money dealing with bigger breakdowns you could have prevented if you JUST GOT INTERESTED in their lives and what makes them satisfied at work.
