Late Prof Nitish Ranjan De
As a part of some preparations I was doing for a lecture that I need to take later in the week as a visiting faculty, I was doing some work for which I was looking up the work done by late Prof Nitish Ranjan De.
While I had always been aware of the seminal contributions, he made in the field of applied behavioural sciences, particularly Organization theory and Socio-technical systems, in this part of the world, I did learn a few things about his work and his career which I was not specifically aware of. ?
For example, he underwent training in the US directly under Douglas McGregor, the doyen of behavioural science at MIT.
Whatever little mention there was regarding the life and work of Prof Nitish Ranjan De was contained in an Obituary written by (late) Prof Dharni Sinha for his colleague.
Wanting to see / read more, I tried my best but could not find much documentation regarding such a giant thought leader in the field of behavioural sciences from our sub-continent. ?
I’m hope IIM, Kolkata, where he taught as a full time Faculty may have some of his photos and other kinds of documentation.
I take this opportunity to pay my humble tribute to one of the legends of behavioural science.
