The side door latch is interface with the outer handle by a link rod or by Bowden cable. Link rod is a primitive design and has many quality issues at vehicle level Hence all the latest vehicles designed with latch and Bowden cable interface.

The side door latch lever kinematics, tolerances and Bowden cable interface and lever reset forces are critical parameters for door opening signature as well as for proper door release function.

The latch and latch interface with Bowden cable to outer handle and inner handle for release function is very critical. If the release function is impaired then customer cannot enter into the vehicle or the customer cannot come out of the vehicle. Hence the latch release lever stroke, tolerance, Bowden cable length and Bowden cable friction are critical for the door access and Door operating signature.
