A Lasting Legacy...
“The greatest gift is a portion of thyself.” ~Ralph Waldo Emerson
I have been blessed to call myself a part of the NASCAR "Framily" for over 15 years now. The people in the NASCAR community have a passion for performance and partnerships. Whether you are a NASCAR executive, team owner, crew member, media personnel, driver, track employee or fan -- your loyalty to this lifestyle is unrivaled.
Recently the NASCAR Framily said "goodbye" to the sports most popular and genuine driver -- Dale Earnhardt Jr. As a part of related business for Shamrock Sports & Entertainment, I had a chance to see the beloved #88 take final laps at Miami Homestead Speedway. In the rear view mirror were many pressures of carrying on the winning ways of his late father Dale Earnhardt Sr. who won a historic 7 NASCAR Championships. Dale Jr. not only carried on the family legacy with on track performance, but he did it off track with a big heart filled with contagious LOVE and affection for the people of NASCAR.
Leading into the final race weekend, a quote summed up Dale Jr.'s lasting legacy -- "You get older, you start to understand how you prioritize the things that are most important to you about the sport. The camaraderie and the friendships that I've made kind of started down the list, and as I've gotten older, that has crept up the list. If it's not No. 1, I don't know what is. That probably is what you will miss the most once you are done driving, is the people."
Thanks to our friends at NBC Sports, Dale Jr. will take on a new challenge and chapter. During the 2018 Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series, we will see him in the booth providing his unique style and swagger. His priceless gifts to the NASCAR Framily will continue on in a lasting legacy sure to be unmatched.
