Last Week on AI - no.27

Last week, we had many conferences hyping exciting news. After all that the mind-blowing news from OpenAI's #devday (more info below), Amazon and LangChain made their move onto custom agents, too.

New models are coming out: Grok from xAI (ex-twitter), a conversational AI, and Samsung's new on-device generative model Gauss. On top of that, GitHub Universe 2023 showed how they plan to integrate Copilot into all their services.

????Let's jump right in:

“GitHub was founded on git. Today, it’s re-founded on Copilot.”

The giant dev platform (part of Microsoft) announced some of the improvements that will be available for their Code Generation tool, like a Copilot Chat, a Workspace for Pair programming, some AI-powered Security features, and much more. We'll follow the changes closely, as they will set a precedent in the AI Landscape. #copilot #githubuniverse

Last Monday was OpenAI's first developer conference: #DevDay. With Sam Altman as host, they presented some of the most exciting news about AI this year. Here's the summary:

  • GPT4 Turbo context length extended to 128k.
  • The capability to?define a seed and reproduce the output.
  • ?JSON Mode for JSON output.
  • New APIs?for DALLE-3, GPT4V, Whisper V3, and their new text-to-speech model.
  • Copyright Shield?an initiative to cover OpenAI customers for copyright-related issues.
  • The introduction of?"GPTs"?and the creation of the?"GPT Store".

Last Week, X (formerly Twitter) announced Grok, its own Conversational AI "modeled after the Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, so intended to answer almost anything and, far harder, even suggest what questions to ask!".?

Naturally, a crypto scam followed suit, misusing the term and faking Elon Musk's persona, obfuscating the search for Grok-related news.

Humane , an AI startup, released one of the first wearables powered by AI,?the AI PIN: an innovative, screenless wearable device designed to offer a range of AI-powered features, potentially rivaling smartphones.

After #devday?Amazon Web Services (AWS)?gently reminded us about their Agents for Amazon Bedrock. Make it easy to create and deploy fully managed agents that execute complex business tasks by dynamically invoking APIs.

After the announcement of "GPTs" by OpenAI, LangChain made its move and put up a tweet calling for an open-source effort to create a similar experience to OpenAI's GPTs. Built with?LangChain,?LangServe, and?LangSmith, it gives you more control over the LLM, the prompt, and the tools you can use to feed it.

Last week, we saw the Samsung AI Forum 2023, which was led by Samsung Research and focused on generative AI and introduced?Gauss,?the generative AI model developed by the company for their phones. Samsung is a major player in Android phones. Let's see where it takes us
