LI POST ICYMI: PSYCHOSOCIAL RISK ASSESSMENT DOS AND DON’TS

In my role, I get to see a lot of attempts at psychosocial risk assessment. Some of them are ok, most leave a lot to be desired.

Periodically, we have an organisation reach out once an audit has identified that their attempt at psychosocial risk assessment fell short.

Some of the common issues myself and my colleagues observe include (in no particular order):

  1. Attempting to pass off an employee engagement survey or culture survey as a ‘risk assessment’
  2. A conflation of psychosocial hazard identification with risk assessment
  3. Measuring work design rather than the potential….
