The Last One of Last Year | ?? #60

Hey! ??

So, this is kind of the last dispatch of the year, and it's pretty typical to write about what kind of year it was, what were the major achievements of the industry, and of us personally. But, to be honest, I'm not really feeling it. I don't want to once again write about how AI is winning the world and that LLMs didn't make such a leap in 2024 as in the previous year(s). It's become a bit of a routine. Even the main Cloud stories that happened in 2024 are dull: Google, Amazon, Microsoft, and all the other big players are focusing on AI. Cloud providers are cutting back on people, but they're still growing their profits and carbon footprint. The drama between VMware and Broadcom continues, and now AT&T is getting involved with their lawsuit.

In my opinion it's much more interesting what happened to us at mkdev (but of course). It's been a great year! We've been traveling like never before, meeting new people, and making connections. We've been to a bunch of exhibitions and conferences all over Europe, from Belgrade to Lisbon, and it's been awesome. Bits & Pretzels in Munich really stood out to us, with its vibe and how well-organized it was. Web Summit is still the giant of the industry, but in terms of getting a lot of impressions in a short period, the Bavarian show takes the cake. At these conferences, we've seen how trends influence the minds and reshape the business of new and existing companies. Watching our clients' companies adapt and build new processes has been really exciting, and it's influenced our activities too. We've expanded, we've grown, we've released the 50th anniversary episode of the podcast, and we've published a ton of new articles. There's been a lot of interesting work, and there's more to come! With this newsletter, we want to create more interesting content for you, so please write what you'd like to see besides the digest.
