January: Pioneering Digital Health Solutions
At the beginning of the year, IntelliSOFT earned its place among Africa's digital health leaders, receiving funding from PATH and Medic to expand our digital health solutions for community health. The Digital Health Ecosystem (DHE) project paved the way for further developments, including the enhancement of Mama's Hub—a Maternal Health Information System designed for low-resource healthcare facilities.
We kicked off the Digital Health Ecosystem (DHE) Program with smiles and candid shots, sharing our excitement as one of four Africa-based digital health entrepreneurs awarded through the DHE project.
February: Championing Technology in Cancer Care
We attended the Inaugural Cancer Summit in Kenya, which, among other things, was about championing the role of technology and innovation in cancer care. The event showcased the government's commitment to impactful digital solutions and featured insights from industry leaders on leveraging digital tools to improve cancer outcomes.
March: All about Mama's Hub and Google Open Health Stack
Mama's Hub was one of the innovations highlighted during the launch of Google Open Health Stack. We shared our journey of utilizing Open Health Stack to empower community health workers, emphasizing the importance of solid design standards and interoperable platforms in digital health solutions.

April: Advocating Cross-Border Health Data Sharing
Nyevu Karisa , a Technical Project Manager at IntelliSOFT, played a crucial role in the IGAD Regional Advocacy Meeting, and was part of the Facilitators and Regional Policy Consultants representing IntelliSOFT advocating for cross-border health data sharing and protection policy frameworks. IntelliSOFT's dedication to advancing health informatics beyond borders shone through.
June: LinkedIn Newsletter Launch
June marked the launch of our LinkedIn newsletter, providing you with an exclusive space to stay updated on our digital health journey and industry insights. In case you missed this, here's our first edition! Dive in!
August: Tanzania Health Informatics Association Launch and Grand Challenges Grant
We saw the launch of the Tanzania Health Informatics Association (TAHIA), which our CEO Steven Wanyee was part of, representing The Pan African Health Informatics Association (HELINA) . In the same month, we received a Grand Challenges grant and announce that Dr. Nelly Nyaga , our Health, Data Science, Research and Innovation Lead would be joining a team of global health researchers in harnessing AI to empower Kenyan youth in health—a significant step towards transformative change.
September: Sports for Good and World Patient Safety Day
Our commitment to community empowerment continued with the Shelter Children's Home Sports Charity Event. The outpour of generosity from our community raised Ksh 373,000 for renovating the sports field. Learn More.
November: HELINA 2023 and WHO Interoperability Hackathon
IntelliSOFT's presence at the HELINA 2023 Conference showcased our dedication to effective implementation and sustainability of digital health interventions in Africa. During the conference dinner, we also had the honor of witnessing our Founder and CEO, Steven Wanyee being officially confirmed as the President of The Pan African Health Informatics Association (HELINA) for the next two years.
We also actively participated in the WHO Interoperability Hackathon, contributing to building interoperable systems for immunization and disease surveillance.
December: GDHF 2023 and WHO Cybersecurity Conference
The Global Digital Health Forum (GDHF) 2023 was a momentous occasion for us. We shared insights on projects like the Community Health Toolkit Pharmacovigilance Application. We were also part of the first ever GDHF Watch Party, fostering global conversations on digital health. The watch party had participants from both Nairobi and Washington D.C. tuned in to a co-located panel session on scaling locally owned community health information systems.
Our recent participation in the WHO Cybersecurity Conference underscored our commitment to secure, confidential, and private healthcare systems.
