Last nights screening: for friends and fam

It occurred to me, while surrounded by film professionals, enthusiasts, creatives of all walks, applauding as the credits rolled, that this gathering is more important than I fully comprehend.? There was an undeniable feeling of goodness in the room. I turned to my friend and said, “Isn’t this sweet?” While the quality of the film surpassed that simple description, the moment was indeed sweet.? LOVE, FROM ELLIE is a heartbreaking & heartwarming story about the way we grieve and the importance of family. The short film will do the festival circuit and move forward with the feature format soon.? I expect good things from the talented director, producers, and cast. This screening reminded me how vital creative cultural events are. The creative community has a unique way of showing us how much we need one another. For those of us not working in industries that nurture creativity, having madly inspired, obsessed, and relentless artists in our lives isn’t just about enjoying the products they create. It’s about appreciating the values they embody—freedom, full expression, and the courage to chase dreams. Artists teach us the importance of saying “yes” to life and holding ourselves accountable for doing something extraordinary.

Conversely, the creative community thrives on being seen and appreciated by its audience. Artists seek not only acknowledgment but also connection—proof that their contributions matter.

Telling powerful stories is a cornerstone of human connection, and supporting the arts is equally crucial. Those involved in the pursuit of transformative storytelling—whether as creators, contributors, or supporters—are changed in the process. This is especially true for those who fund these productions. Audiences leave with more than entertainment; they take away a shared experience that lingers. Those who fund these projects are making a social impact, while investing in a media product that has the potential to reach global audiences.

When a transformative story is experienced collectively, its impact is magnified. While a film may exist as a simple digital file, its ability to inspire good is exponential, particularly when aligned with a social impact initiative.

In the case of Love, from Ellie, themes of homelessness and supporting the veteran run throughout the story. Accompanying the films production and distribution are initiatives aimed at supporting homeless individuals and veterans. I highly recommend learning more about this project.
