Last night, I saw a post on instagram by one of the women in the Tough Muther Army. Maybe you remember Trish's story, I posted it January 10, 2017, on Tough Muther Tuesday.
In Trish's article she chronicles her cancer journey, every painful, hard, good, bad and ugly, step of the way. She shares her life lessons for other women to draw information and strength from. Trish is a beautiful soul, with the strength of a warrior and heart of an saint, so imagine my disbelief and disgust when I read the following post:
In April of 2016 I was diagnosed with Stage 2 highly er/pr invasive ductal carcinoma. I completed 16 rounds of chemo, had a bilateral mastectomy and need at least 5 years of hormone therapy. I was having problems with my insurance and looking at losing coverage, and having a very hard time finding doctors that would accept me. So In July I was added to my husbands insurance BCBS of Illinois. Since then I have been pending approval for my hormone therapy, which is a crucial part of my treatment since my cancer is fed by estrogen and progesterone. I have called my doctors office, insurance companies over and over only to be told, it’s pending approval. It’s gotten to the point to where you don’t even want to try anymore. Recovering from cancer is draining enough, then having to fight for your treatment is exhausting and downright depressing at times. You can’t help to feel defeated. So I’ve decided to turn to social media, in hopes to get answers.
Trish
So why am I posting this? Because I need you, your expertise and your help.
PLEASE
We are all connected here not just for show, not just for business, but to help one another. Each of us has a family member or friend, that we dearly love, who is or has faced the hell, that cancer carries with it. I personally have lost 5 friends, all women, in the last 6 years and have many more fighting the fight, right now.
So PLEASE, PLEASE help Trish get her life saving medication. Please help her to get this resolved immediately or put her in contact with someone in Blue Cross Blue Shield of Illinois who can.
Then tonight, when you close your eyes, deep down in your heart, you will know that you have made a selfless difference in someone else's life and the world.

7 年I started my career at a Blue that's part of the same org as Illinois and still have connections there. Feel free to reach out to me if you’d like. Also, I'd recommend she reach out to the Illinois Insurance Commissioner’s office. There's typically laws in place mandating a response time. Sometimes filing a complaint there can get people moving quicker. ??
