At Last.... Network build hots up..
On the news this week, we are told that the government is backing a big push in network build for both telecommunications and the internet.
'About time' we shout, too many dead spots and to often we suffer from poor performance of anything web based. This now includes telecommunications, whether we like it or not!
A chap I know, erects mobile network masts for a living, and he tells me they are flat out and have been for a while now. Added to this I have noticed better signal for longer spells on my daily journey, to and from the office. So I guess it is happening and that excites me as well as worries me a little (big brother is dead, it is now big everyone that potentially concerns me).
Internet based solutions are all reliant upon a good connection at each end and many have little alternative, should signal fail or slow to an almost stop. However most every thing in life is effected by new technology and each generation embraces it better than the last. So how will all this affect us, our products, services and way of work?
We see many advantages and a few disadvantages with the internet of things and all it will offer, but overall quicker, clear and more accessible communications should be a good thing (just so long as it is the useful truth).
Access control, CCTV, monitoring, active alerts and real time notices, will no doubt improve security and safety across the majority of our powered gate installation market place, as well as door entry, communications and information access for all.
The flip side will be a huge learning curve for all of us and greater need for qualified engineers in even more disciplines than the vast number required today. Where will we find them and how do we keep them when we have?
Making a start by identifying what is needed already for even a basic automatic gate, door or barrier system, is our suggestion.
