Last month’s top 3 posts (& why they performed so well) - February 2022

Good?afternoon?from?sunny?Dubai,

I just realized that?our?newsletter turned one year…?no way!?One year?!?It feels as if I just started writing it…12 editions and 37,400 subscribers?later, I quickly want to thank?you for your time, curiosity and for being an avid reader. I highly appreciate is. :-)

How did the newsletter evolve? What has changed since I launched it?

  • I’ve reduced the amount of content by more than 50% - e.g., from 55 pieces/month in March 2021 to 24 pieces in February 2022; and if feels SO good. Why did I put so much pressure on myself before that?!
  • I’ve added more stats to the newsletter with the time (like post views, comments, likes)
  • …and personal/bizz highlights at the beginning, which serves as a great reflection exercise: What was awesome last month? What can I change to improve the quality of my life??

In February 2022, I explored a few (new) places in the UAE like The Museum of The Future, Palm West Beach, Fujeirah and Khorfakkan. I was back in the desert and at the Dubai Expo, the View and visited the Dubai Opera. The?Desert Bliss?experience was one of my top experiences, just like the helicopter ride across Dubai and the fact that my latest?LinkedIn Learning course?is online; oh, and improv becomes more and more fun.

Sooo… which unique content?pieces?performed well and why did our audience resonate so much with it??What are the concrete stats we got per post??And: What are new assumptions YOU could also test??

260 Likes, 138 Comments, 25,642 Views.?Starting a post with?a?headline, which includes the word "f*ck" and?"new"?will definitely influence its?visibility. Combine it with a picture of nature and its beauty, its vastness and the feeling of freedom and you’ll?have a winner?- IF?the story you’re telling delivers what you’ve promised.

Over the last weeks, I’ve also realized?that?posts,?which address my expanding self-awareness around?“unconditional?self-love”?seem to perform very well. Maybe I’ll collect the best stories by the end of the year and create a book out of it. I don’t know yet…

If you’re playing with?the?idea of publishing a book, there’s no need to reinvent the wheel. Which?LinkedIn?content pieces can you use as a foundation?

One last thought: I’ve?tested?the “tiny,?pink piglet wallowing in the mud”?metaphor a couple of times now?-?online and in real life?-?and people were always laughing, saying?“you're hilarious“!?I’ve started creating more extreme,?sometimes?slightly?disturbing?pictures in the minds of my readers, since?David Brier reminded me of the power of it. You might wanna make use of this, too...

261 Likes, 71 Comments, 18, 143 Views.?All of this?month’s top posts?show a picture of me outside. They all also address experiences or insights?I’ve gained in nature. Interesting…?

How much time do you spend outside of the office or your home??

This will very likely have a positive impact on your mood, well-being and maybe even?on?your content quality and creativity. It’s?worth testing, isn’t it? :-)

Stories of change, transformation and?growth?still seem to be more appreciated than concrete knowledge in a specific area of expertise (for us: organic LinkedIn marketing, personal branding on LinkedIn, social selling with LinkedIn).?And it makes sense, when you think about it:?

Whenever?you write about an incredible experience,?you tend to write more from the heart.?When?you give your best to?teach?something, you’ll very likely write more from the mind.?Ideally, we find a way to combine both elements to?edutain?our audience.

Post #3?–?Loyalty + Top?Performance?=????ride??

344 Likes, 113 Comments, 22,671 Views.?The success of this post?proves?that?people want to see the faces behind a brand. We’re ready for a new type, a more empathy driven?version?of leadership, in which we really care about, listen to and support our employees. That’s at least how I choose to frame?the status quo.

Are you a modern leader? Prove it to us with concrete short stories about you and your team!

When you combine that with honesty felt gratitude and showing your human?(forget B2B and B2C, think HB2HB – human being to human being)?side, ideally captured in a colorful picture, I can almost guarantee you that your online community will?resonate with this piece of?content.?This is “pure gold” – esp. for your employer brand.

And again,?portraying?the unusual, the unexpected?- here a helicopter -?in a tendencywise rather boring news feed,?will help you get the eyeballs?you’re looking for to spread your message.?Have the courage to be different and stand out!

Alright, that’s it for today.

Stay flawsome,

Dr. Nat
