We start our journey in this NEW newsletter ?? by sharing with you the most relevant information on #Rehabilitation , Therapeutic #Exercise and #NewTechnologies !!
ReHand in the Hand Therapy and Surgery European Congress in Rimini, Italy??
A few weeks ago we were in the Annual Congress of Hand Surgery And Therapy FESSH | Federation of European Societies for the Surgery of the Hand EFSHT Hand Therapy
?? ReHand and RehBody App research team presented our latest results over 6 years in different lines of research with more than 1000 patients??recruited (trauma and neuro pathologies) using New Technologies, #ArtificialIntelligence and #mHealth devices ??.
Also we have the honor to participate in two #workshops conducted by the European Certified Hand Therapist Tom Lattré ??. Some clinical cases were presented to show the impact of #ReHand in the #rehabilitation process of Hand and finger patients.
????And not only that! We won the ??second prize of the #SharkTank #KLSSharkTank edition for betting on #ArtificialIntelligence in Hand Surgery and Hand Therapy #telerehabilitation !
Why an Upper Limb stroke-Affected tends to nonuse????? | Origin of "Asymmetry Nonuse" ??
Most commonly after a ??#stroke , patients have a greater reliance on their less affected upper limb to perform daily tasks. However, this situation can lead to a vicious circle in which a progressive deterioration?? appears, which in turn generates greater #functional limitation. This reduction in the use of the more-impaired arm, called the “Learned Nonuse”.?
Which are the causes of this process? Activity costs? Expected chance of success in a specific activity?

??FAQS about PIP Stiffness and Hand Therapy and Surgery
We have condensed the most frequently asked questions that any #physiotherapist , #handsurgeon or #handtherapist may have about PIP treatment:
1? When TERT can be applied?
2? When NOT to apply TERT?
3? When should we Stop TERT and consider #HandSurgery ?
4? What factors predicts TERT success?
Hip??Quadriceps Exercises for Femoropatellar Pain ??
Although we know that #femoropatellar #pain should be treated with #Exercise ???, we are not sure which exercises we should prescribe. Targeting the quadriceps? Or the hip?
This is what Hansen R et al 2023 decided to evaluate in a sample of 200 patients. They compared the effect of two different exercise protocols.
??What did they find?
The results showed that BOTH groups improved similarly in function and pain in the short and medium term.
?What are the implications?
We must abandon the #biomechanistic view of the approach to Pain and focus on:
??Psychological Factors
?? Patient preferences
?? Evidence Based
????More is NOT always better in Subacromial Pain Syndrome !!!??
Exercise is a cornerstone in #Subacromial #Syndrome treatment, but more exercise doesn't always produce better results. why?
A stratified analysis of the SExSI Study published in 2023 , looked at why this is the case, analyzing the effect of #Pain #Catastrophizing Levels on outcome, when adding an extra #dose of exercise.
? The results showed that a higher Dose of #exercise did NOT improve outcomes in People with high levels of Pain Catastrophizing.
? The occurrence of #pain during the session may be counterproductive in people with high levels of Catastrophizing.
?Enhanced #adherence to the programme is vital to improve outcomes.
