The Last Lap: A Fall Break to Remember!
This past weekend was my last Fall Break at UNC — so bittersweet! In past years, I usually head home to relax and recharge with friends and family, but this year, my friends and I decided to make it extra memorable by taking a trip to Las Vegas!
I knew this trip would be one to remember. It was like stepping into a giant amusement park for adults, with flashing lights, dramatic structures, and tourist attractions on every corner. It was also my first time visiting Nevada and the farthest west I've traveled as an adult, which made the adventure even more exciting! Flying over the Grand Canyon was also such a cool sight! I even enjoyed the dry desert air, which was very different from the humidity back home in North Carolina.
There was so much to do in Vegas that it felt overwhelming at first. Each hotel felt like its own world, filled with massive shopping areas, shows, casinos, and endless experiences. Everywhere we turned, there were themed restaurants, pools, and entertainment venues. We made the most of it and dined at many unique spots throughout the trip.
On our first night, we went to Tao Asian Bistro for dinner, and it was beyond incredible. I ordered the lo mein noodle bowl, and it was hands down the best I’ve ever had. But the best part of the night wasn’t just the food — it was the experience! Vegas knows how to make everything feel larger than life.
Since three of my friends had birthdays that week, our server surprised us with a birthday dessert, but this was no ordinary situation. He brought out a giant fortune cookie filled with chocolate mousse, accompanied by a colorful array of fruits. On top of that, another platter of dessert dumplings was placed in the center, smoking with dry ice. It was such an amazing surprise—we couldn’t stop laughing in shock!?There were even fortunes for every single one of us in the cookie!

We hit many other great food spots too! We ventured to Guy Fieri's restaurant, where I had one of the most flavorful burgers I have ever eaten and BBQ dusted french fries. We also enjoyed a meal at RPM Italian, burritos, and burgers at In and Out burger!
This trip to Vegas with my college friends was the perfect way to celebrate my final Fall Break. I’m so grateful for the memories we made together, between the vibrant atmosphere, incredible food, and nonstop adventures, it felt like the ideal send-off to senior year. And while I missed the familiar comfort of going home for Fall Break, the excitement of this trip and the time spent with my friends are moments I’ll cherish forever!
