The Last Lap: Confessions of a Google Calendar Addict
Everyone has that one app they can’t live without, and for me, it’s Google Calendar. I'm obsessed with an app all about planning, organizing, and time blocking. While it may not sound thrilling initially, the color coordination, structure, and satisfaction of keeping everything in one place brings me so much joy. I know there have to be people out there who relate to this... hopefully!
I’m one of those people who thrives on routine, and the first thing I do every morning is check my Google Calendar. Whether it’s class, work meetings, or plans with friends, everything is neatly color-coded and accounted for. I even block off time to study and schedule when to go eat lunch during the school week. By now, my calendar looks like a rainbow explosion of events… and I love it!
But there’s a method to the madness. For example, important appointments and meetings are always in red—it’s my way of making sure nothing of high importance slips through the cracks. Navy blue and light pink are my fun events, plans, and travel on my calendar. I always double-check that I have something fun to look forward to each week! Having my day mapped out gives me a sense of control, and there’s something about seeing a full schedule that makes me feel productive. The perfectionist in me loves this! Everything is in its place, and I’ll never forget about something on my calendar.
Google Calendar has saved me countless times from embarrassingly missing a meeting or showing up late. There have been moments when I get a notification that I need to be somewhere in 15 minutes, and I’ll literally jump out of my seat!

Many features on Google Calendar excite me, but my favorite is the automatic link between Google Meet and Calendly meetings to the calendar. I use these meeting platforms for work, and my meetings automatically link to my calendar! This is the biggest time saver.
However, it’s not just about getting things done. Google Calendar gives me the freedom to shift things around when needed. Google Calendar adapts to changing plans, which helps me stay on top of everything while still allowing room for spontaneity. It’s almost like a reflection of my personality—a mix of structured planning and the flexibility to make the most out of every day. This is especially important to me now as I try to make time for everything during my senior year. Some may see it as an over-the-top Type A habit, but for me, it’s what keeps me grounded, productive, and in control.
What started as a simple way to track my schedule has become a core part of my daily routine and, dare I say, my personality. While others may see it as just an app, to me, it’s a tool that helps me live each day to the fullest!
