CSYP Social
hosted by Cork & Cask
Thurs, Dec 6th, 6pm-8pm (officially)
Something special about this Social that goes beyond the fact that Cork & Cask has over 200 types of whiskey, 100+ bottles of wine, and a s'mores kit on the menu so you can make your own over one of the 6 fire pits on the patio. Not that those details, as well as the little details of the decor inside that were carefully planned, don't matter. They do, and those details alone make this a place that will make for a fantastic Social.
But there is more to it than that.
Cork & Cask is also located in the backside of what used to be Southside Johnny's, and it was in the backrooms of Johnny's were held our very first Social almost 15 years ago (15 years in January to be exact). Many of you don't know that, some of you were there for that first event where we hoped 15 people would show and 44 did. Never did I dream CSYP would become what it is today or be as needed as it was. I just wanted to meet new people.
Over the years I did meet 1000s of new people. Joe Campana & Lucas Frye, the owners of Cork & Cask, were a few of those people I met. I met them when they were bartending at various places around town over the years. When they told me dreams of owning their own place one day. Joe of course owns a few, and Lucas is finally making his dream a reality with Cork & Cask with Joe's help.
It's a lesson in relationships. Why CSYP exists even really. About face to face, in person interaction, and maintaining that over the years. Supporting each other in person. Not just following them online and liking posts, but actually having a conversation in person.
So please join us Thurs, Dec. 6th from 6pm-8pm in celebrating these details that will never make the news. Come make your own connections, grow them, and be apart of the experience. CSYP has lasted this long because of the people. I'm just here to tell you where to go. It's not about me, never has been, but about my own sincere desire to connect people face to face over a few drinks.
I never knew my grandfather, but I was mentored by a guy named Claire Gilmore who was mentored by my grandfather. Claire once told me, "Best deals are done after Midnight Jonny". I'd like to amend his saying by revising it to say "The best deals are done after 5pm". Best ones also don't happen in one event, but over time. It's who you know in this world, come out and make some new friends. You never know what path you'll end up on by doing so.
