Last 2024 MLB Mock Draft 7/14/202

Last 2024 MLB Mock Draft 7/14/202

1. Cleveland Guardians: 2B Travis Bazzana, Oregon State, can move quickly and be a fixture in the middle of lineup

2. Cincinnati Reds: OF Charlie Condon, Georgia - fits what Cincy needs

3. Colorado Rockies: SS/OF, Konnor Griffin, Jackson Prep, Mississippi - live body, bat strength, toolsy

4. Oakland Athletics: 1B/LHP Jac Caglianone, Florida - makes sense for the A's, they could copy the Ohtani work as a 2 way, Pitch/Hit model, a scary elbow lock torque and past injury is worrisome but his ability to pitch and be a middle of the lineup guy ya can't pass up.

5. Chicago White Sox: 1B, Nick Kurtz, Wake Forest - Sox always take bats, in this case, best available player

6. Kansas City Royals: LHP, Hagen Smith, Arkansas - Royals could use another lefty starter or a closer, Smith has ability to fit that mold, scary delivery however

7. St. Louis Cardinals: RHP Chase Burns, Wake Forest - lively body, solid arm strength, taller version of Jordan Hicks

8. Los Angeles Angels: OF Braden Montgomery, Texas A&M - excellent athlete who'll hit, Trout's injury plague will push him to DH, Montgomery can be fixture in the OF for Angels

9. Pittsburgh Pirates: IF, JJ Wetherholt, West Virginia - one he's local area kid they've scouted heavily, he's gonna hit and he can play solid enough "D" to be a ML for a long time in Pittsburgh.

10. Washington Nationals: 3B, Tommy White, LSU - Nats really miss Rendon & Zimmerman, Rizzo likes bats and difference makers and White can help the young Nationals make a move.

11. Detroit Tigers: SS Seaver King, Wake Forest - fire plug with hit tool, finds way to get on base

12. Boston Red Sox: 3B, Cam Smith, Florida State - hit tool has gotten better with better pitch selection

13. San Francisco Giants: OF, James Tibbs, Florida St - back to back Seminoles is how it could go, likely not but Tibbs profiles for the ball park and should hit enuf to make impact at the ML level quickly.

14. Chicago Cubs: MIF, Bryce Rainer, Harvard-Westlake High School (CA) - Cubs with youth movement mindset, this kid could reach ML quickly ala Crow-Armstrong & Jack Flaherty

15. Seattle Mariners: LHP Kash Mayfield, Elk City High School (OK)

16. Miami Marlins: LHP, Cam Caminiti moved him up herem LHP Cam Caminiti, Saguaro HS, Arizona - kin's name played for Padres and this would be a great story, Cam has great upside and Padres can use lefty pitching., with last minute telling MLB he's not wanting to be drafted and will attend LSU in RHP, William Schmidt, Cathloic HS, Louisiana, hard to pass on an arm like this or they could go with Brecht from Iowa.

17. Milwaukee Brewers: SS Kaelen Culpepper, Kansas State

18. Tampa Bay Rays: SS Kellon Lindsey, Hardee High School (FL)

19. New York Mets: RHP Brody Brecht, Iowa - makes sense here as the Mets miss having studs like DeGrom and Wheeler back in the day - Brecht can be a closer or in the rotation

20. Toronto Blue Jays: SWP - Jurrangelo Cijntje, Mississippi St - intriguing arm from lefty or right, could be used as a closer due to this once in a lifetime ability which can change the game some.

21. Minnesota Twins: 2B, Christian Moore, Tennessee - live bat and can produce runs, could move quickly in a development minded organization

22. Baltimore Orioles: OF/RHP Carson Benge, Oklahoma State

23. Los Angeles Dodgers: 3B, Billy Amick, Tennessee - vastly improved, however I feel his bat will need to get him there, all else is there, bat's a question for me

24. Atlanta Braves: SS, Carter Johnson, Oxford HS, Alabama - live bat, room to get bigger, he'll hit and there's not hurry to move him, could fill in at 3B if Riley moves on in free-agency

25. San Diego Padres: LHP Johnathan Santucci, Duke - lefty that has all the ability, consistency has plagued him some, but most lefties can be a bit quirky and Yankees can use pitching.

26. New York Yankees: OF/1B, PJ Morlando, Summerville HS, Summerville SC, 6'3 200, L/R, plus raw power w/qk whip level stroke, on the way runner can play either corner OF spot, best spot probably 1B in the long run, showed his power in the HR Derby on All-Star week. Showed plus skills at PDP in Cary.

27. Philadelphia Phillies: LHP, David Shields, Mount Lebanon HS, Penn - young lefty with upside, a local state kid and Phillies can allow him to develop for a couple years, ETA would be 2028 and he'd be 21 years old.

28. Houston Astros: C, Caleb Lomavita, Cal - plugger who can play "D", hits enuf to make a difference and Astros need to be strong up the middle, also talk Caleb could go much earlier than #28 overall.

29. Arizona Diamondbacks: OF Ryan, Waldschmidt, Kentucky - type of athleticism Arizona loves, I worry about his bat vs good ML pitching, he hits mediocre pitchers hard, he's dead red fastball guy and he's improved but the bat will be the question

30. Texas Rangers: SS Tyson Lewis, Millard West High School (NE) - yeah the club has scouted this kid but also a number of college players in Texas including, Janek at Sam Houston State and MIF, Kyle DeBarge of Louisiana, MIF, Calen Culpepper of Kansas State who could move to OF or play 2B/3B, bat needs to carry him.Extra 1st Round Picks

31.Arizona Diamondbacks - RHP Trey Yesavage, East Carolina - solid arm strength and 2 pitch arsenal, lots of rewrap and rushes front side, could get stronger in pro ball

32.Baltimore Orioles - LHP Kash Mayfield, Elk City HS, Oklahoma - projecting up the boards, filling out, live arm with upside, Orioles in no hurry can develop him more

33.Minnesota Twins - C, Walker Janek, Sam Houston State U - catch and throw guy with pop in the bat!

34. Milwaukee Brewers - OF, Dakota Jordan, Mississippi State - raw talent is all I hear about, what I see is raw ability definitely and that scares me, he's projected earlier, but he needs better pitch selection and tone down to be a complete hitter, has power, speed and plays solid enuf "D"

35. Arizona Diamondbacks - 2B/SS, Theo Gillen, Westlake HS, Texas, live body who'll get stronger, shows hit tools and enuf "D" to stick at SS for some time, has improved over last year based on hearsay, from video he has skills

36. Cleveland Guardians - SS, Griff O'Ferrall, Virginia - solid bat w/enuf "D" to make a difference quickly in Cleveland system

37. Pittsburgh Pirates - RHP Bryce Cunningham, Vanderbilt - prototype build and arm the Pirates love, keeping him healthy and added deception will only help this arm that has touched 100 mph w/FB. Pirates loading up with pitchers probably won't pass on him here.

38. Colorado Rockies - RHP Luke Holman, LSU - tremendous upside left, he's a pitcher who has to rely on control, has 3 pitch arsenal and hides the ball, he'll need to improve that some, however he fits the mold and Rockies can use pitching

39. Washington Nationals via trade with Kansas City Royals: OF Mike Sirota, Northeastern - bat came to life after a few solid wood bat league years, can run and better on the way, plays "D" and has pop to hit in a ML lineup, covers lots of ground in OF which the Royals love.
