At present, the mechanism of laser cleaning generally includes four aspects: laser vaporization and decomposition, thermal expansion of dirt particles, substrate surface vibration and particle-to-particle vibration, and laser peeling; and laser cleaning is often the result of the simultaneous action of multiple mechanisms.
Its physical principle is as follows:
(a)? The light beam emitted by the laser is absorbed by the contamination layer on the surface to be treated and vaporized.
(b) The absorption of large energy forms a rapidly expanding plasma and generates a shock wave.
(c) The shock wave breaks the contaminants into fragments and strips them away.
There are two thresholds for plasma generation. The first threshold depends on the contamination or oxide layer being removed, and only when the energy density is above this threshold will plasma be generated. Likewise, there is a second threshold for its occurrence, and if the energy density exceeds this threshold, the substrate material will be destroyed. In order to ensure the safety of the base material and carry out effective cleaning, the laser parameters must be adjusted according to the situation, so that the energy density of the optical pulse is strictly between the two thresholds, which ensures the self-control of laser cleaning. Light pulses with an energy density above the first threshold will reject contaminants until they reach the substrate material. However, since its energy density is below the destruction threshold of the substrate material, the substrate is not destroyed.
