Lars Pahlman Memorial Lecture

We are proud to announce the Lars Pahlman memorial lecture to honour a friend and a giant of colorectal surgery. Lars was a supporter of the European Colorectal Congress since its very first edition 10 years ago. He made numerous major contributions to the care of rectal cancer patients and to the scientific evaluation thereof. He was a committed physician, a tireless worker, a prolific scientist, and a man of his word. His skills and sharp mind were known and appreciated beyond borders. By sharing his large knowledge, experience, and wisdom with us year after year he participated to and greatly supported the success of this Congress. He inspired thousands and allowed us to see further by standing on his shoulders. As Surgeons and as a Congress we are deeply indebted to him and honoured to name a lecture in his memory.

Bill Heald, another friend of the first hour and pioneer of rectal cancer surgey, will give the first Lars Pahlman Memorial Lecture on Wednesday, December 1st 2016.
