Larger than Life

I felt minuscule and yet larger than life, all encompassed within each moment of the Double Down the Grand Expedition. Surrounded by the gargantuan cliffs of the Grand Canyon, towering over our heads each day. To the massive and powerful force of each wave and each lateral that crashed down upon me. Our 22-foot long Seaward kayak made me feel tiny within the weight that propelled us forward with each stroke. Hiking the many canyons to look down upon our vessels resting safely upon shore, mere dots among the giant landscape. The thought of a World First, the knowing if no one else had achieved such a feat, it must be just as grand as the rocky walls that touched the sky around us. To standing next to the most impressive and dominant paddlers I ever had the honour to be amongst. Their strength and skills pushed every aspect of myself to accomplish our goals. Providing me with the confidence to gaze upon the forces that stood within each movement creating a trust and a determination to shift my mindset not to that which seemed incapable, but to the absolute attainable. Creating Giants within us.

When you start living the life of your dreams, there will always be obstacles, doubters, mistakes and setbacks along the way. But with hard work, perseverance and self-belief there is no limit to what you can achieve.” #roytbennett
